The first app from Nothing has arrived in the Play Store and can be downloaded right now!

This is a companion app to the soon-to-be-released ear (1) earbuds. The featured screenshots reveal a few of the features and settings ear (1) will support at launch, including:

• Checking battery levels

• ANC adjustment/controls

• Turn on/off earbud gestures

• Turn on/off in-ear detection

• Ring your earbuds to help find them

• Adjust EQ

• Update earphone firmware

It’s our first time seeing a Nothing app on our devices - What do you guys think of the design? I’m really happy to see an adjustable EQ and a handy tool for finding lost earbuds!

Seems to be great functions, but in mind with more “nothing” stuff released sooner and later I just hope they won’t release an app for each device and just combine it to one.

Uu thanks for sharing, I wouldn’t have noticed it.

The UI looks just as expected. It has the usual and awesome ‘Nothing’ touch/feeling to it. Stylish, elegant, functional yet simple and user-friendly. I love it.

Hope it will arrive in the App Store too. 🤓

Rob ⚡️ Many thanks for sharing, very nice scoop. 🤓

Based on the images included within the Play Store listing, I like the design. It seems easy to navigate and, like you mentioned, it provides expected, but useful features.

Curious to know more about the “Equalizer” interface. Also, having a “Tips & Support” section baked into the app can be quite useful.

Perhaps Nothing will offer a beta channel for the app, be it directly from the Play Store or through some Beta Testing of their own. Regardless, it’s nice to see that the wheels are turning.

The ear (1) connected when one of those screenshots was taken is using the firmware 1.1.0, that’s also nice to see. Curious to know which version is going to be installed when they arrive to the general public.

Attached is a screenshot with the permissions the app “may request” access to. The camera is listed as one, it will be interesting to know if it will actually request access to it and what for.

PS: @Carl, I was checking the app and I’ve found a typo. Don’t know if you are the best person to tag, but as you can see in the screenshot below, it says “So gald to see you here”. Other than that, looking great so far. 😎

I actually found one more in the sign-in ‘page’. This is more of a grammatical error I guess.

Shouldn’t this be “Forgot my password” instead of “Forget my password” ?

KirubhasWasHere Indeed it should be “Forgot my password”, a very nice find. I mean, unless Nothing is thinking about giving users the possibility to just purge their accounts directly from the app, hah.

Not only that, but in the image I shared, it should be “You can pair your new device” or “You can pair a new device”. As is, the English feels a little bit broken. 😅

Rob ⚡️ The app has a section where we can submit feedback & ideas and report bugs (it already has a log collector implemented), but I do agree with you, a thread with bugs can be useful in the Feedback & Ideas section of the forum.

It won’t replace reporting the bugs via the app, but it can be a good place for members of the community to try and replicate bugs or even add something to the scenarios that other members are finding.

I don’t know where do these people come from .😆 Literally how can they review without testing and saying it because of OnePlus 8t .

Literally I call these people as noobs .

RUTHVIK Will NOTHING community get more members after EAR (1) Launch ???

Indeed, as it was announced before, the original plan is to add new members on a monthly basis. The first wave was added around June 11, so we should be getting new Community Members soon. 😀

                Cheetosdust

Probably when we buy the ear (1) you should get an invite for the community in the box.

Or maybe they just decide to open the community to everyone after the product launch. 😅

Now speaking about the app, from the screenshots it looks nice and simple to use. So it seems that not only hardware is getting the proper love. 😛

youbi Probably when we buy the ear (1) you should get an invite for the community in the box.

I like this idea. I mean, you bought the product and this is the best place to discuss it. And if you spend your money on something, it’s because you care about it and the company. 😎

Plot twist: the invite is also transparent and no one can see it. 😛

I think that scenario will arrive inevitably, but I believe it’s way too early for that. I love this approach of adding new members in batches - it creates a tight-knit group of people. When it’s open for all, first the infrastructure needs to be well-oiled, I reckon.

However, perhaps soon we’ll have the second batch of selected members, maybe to coincide with the launch of the ear (1). 🤓

I totally agree, I have always been a little late in joining other tech forums and I’m often overwhelmed at just how busy they can be. It’s impossible to keep up, and you mostly feel like you’re talking to strangers rather than friends/acquaintances. Bringing in new people with fresh thoughts and opinions regularly would be a good thing, but I’d hate to lose that tight-knit feel.

Rob ⚡️ Yep, and it is a unique feeling to be here since the very beginning - you even more as an Investor.

I believe - or hope - the feeling of bonding won’t go away. It depends on the vision the company has for its Community and on regular members. And so far, both are very promising, conceptually and in their execution.

About the app, well, a new update was just released. 🤓

                        Cheetosdust

Yeah, I agree, I’m grateful that I was able to be here from the start!

As you say, it’s promising that establishing a community was a priority for Nothing, even before a product has been launched! It shows the value that Carl and the team place in hearing directly from its fans/users.

Ah, good news on the update! Looks like the typos are fixed!

Looks like the app was not intended to be released. Cant see it now on play store. But still in my downloaded apps. Mostly it is now accessible through link.

Gald to see the typo correction 🙂

                          Rob ⚡️

EXACTLY. I am so happy I am finally among the firsts of a community like this. Honestly, at the moment nothing.community feels like a small family to me. I know many of the more active users like @Cheetosdust, @[deleted], @Sayan_Dutta, and You Rob ⚡️ just to name a few. And I’m kind of ‘getting you guys know’ more and more from your styles of writing, the use of emojis, and just in general from the clues and characteristics you left in the snippets of comments you make here.

Adding new members is a great and needed way of expanding the community and meeting new faces, I totally support that, but the number of new comers shouldn’t be too high as that would ruin this whole family-feeling, which I would hate to loose.

This reply is also a bit of an appreciation for every single person in this community. Everyone is kind, curious and talkative. I love you guys. Cheers!
