I bought the Nothing Ear, used it for a week and, unfortunately, had to return it.

I loved the sound quality - nothing else stands close to it. The design is outstanding as well.

However, the noise cancellation and transparency modes have disappointed me. I did update them to the latest version. The noise cancellation is pretty weak (I have compared all 4 modes) - when I am on the tube I can hear all the noise pretty well. Before Nothing Ear, I was using AirPods Pro for the past 2+ years. When you turn on the noise cancellation on AirPods you start to feel like there is a vacuum seal between your eardrum and the AirPod and the amount of noise becomes very minimal. I was hoping Nothing would be somewhere around that, but no.

The transparency mode - unfortunately, not that great. I still felt like my ears were plugged and all the noises and voices were very dim. When wearing Nothing Ear and someone starts a conversation with you, you immediately want to take them out, to hear the person better. When I was using the transparency mode on AirPods I felt like nothing was in my ears and I could hear the surroundings/people almost like there were nothing in the ear.

Conclusion:

I wish the noise cancellation and transparency mode were better even if I had to spend an extra £30-50 on them.

Well, I am happy to pay for the quality.

What is the point of spending £100+ for super high-quality sound you cannot even hear when using public transport in London? Or when the transparency mode is on, but you still want to take the pods out of the ear?

Good ear pods are not defined just by the sound quality but by overall good user experience. I want to use a good product wherever I am without compromising. I want to listen to high-end quality music even if am on a plane or if I speak to someone. And if Nothing® can achieve that by bumping the price up - I will pay for it.

RobbyStu my hope is that Nothing will roll out an update for these problems like they did with the Ear (2) last year. I am stil very impressed what these In Ears offer for that price but things like a strong anc or the transparency mode are very important for me and excactly that is it what the Ear (3) are not offering (yet i hope).

RuudHesp nothing wins because the airpods lack bass while nothing ear 2 offers plenty of bass and the ear has very good baass

Dear Nothing Team and Community,

I recently purchased your Nothing Ear wireless in-ear headphones and wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with the product. Overall, I am impressed with several aspects of the headphones but also have some suggestions for improvement.

Positive Feedback:

Design and Comfort

• The sleek design is very appealing, and the headphones are extremely comfortable around the ears. This is one of the most comfortable pairs of headphones I’ve used.

Sound Quality

• The sound quality is excellent. I particularly appreciate the richness and depth of the audio.

Areas for Improvement:

Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode:

• The noise cancellation mode does not perform as well as I expected, especially compared to my previous AirPods Pro (Gen 1, 2019). I was hoping for an improvement given the advancement in technology, but unfortunately, it seems to fall short.

• Similarly, the transparency mode feels very muffled, which is less effective than the AirPods Pro (Gen 1, 2019). An enhancement through a software update would be greatly appreciated.

• Additionally, using the noise cancellation mode for extended periods causes me to experience headaches and a feeling of pressure in my ears, which I did not experience with my AirPods Pro. This is a significant concern for long-term use.

Mode Switching Sound:

• The breathing sound effect when switching between modes feels awkward. A simple chime or another sound would be a more pleasant alternative.

Volume Limit Control:

• The headphones can get quite loud, sometimes distorting the audio quality. It would be beneficial to have an option in the app to set a customizable volume limit. A slider that allows users to choose their preferred maximum volume, such as 80% or any other desired level, would help protect hearing health.

Touch Controls:

• The touch controls on the sides are somewhat complicated with many options. While it’s great to have versatility, I would prefer a more simplified setup. Specifically, an option to disable double and triple clicks (and perform no action) would help prevent accidental inputs.

Integration with iOS:

• Since the headphones are not natively integrated into iOS, a widget for the iOS home screen or a lock screen or a complication to quickly access the Nothing app for mode switching from the lock screen would be very useful.

Case Design:

• The lid of the case wiggles after just a few days of use. A stronger hinge or a double hinge design would provide a more premium feel.

• Including three LEDs on the case to indicate battery status (green for full, red for low) and to show charging progress would be a helpful addition. These could light up when the case is tapped or opened to give a clear indication of battery levels.

Please understand that my feedback comes from a place of appreciation and a desire to see Nothing continue to innovate and improve its products. I believe in the potential of your brand and hope these suggestions can contribute to making the Nothing Ear headphones even better.
