JoshRiggs I haven’t received any response from the team yet. Unfortunately I purchased the phone in India and moved to EU. I’m not sure how their team would respond. I never had this issue earlier with other updates. I hope they’ll get back in time.

After the new update, is your battery working better? Is your phone 1 draining slower?

I think my battery is better compared to old version of the Nothing os 2.6 (July patch). Now i easily getting 5h of screen time per one charge. Normaly as always my battery last me for full day even longer.

I want to update my Nothing Phone 1. However, I am farthest from a Nothing Phone Service Center right now so I can’t afford to have my phone go bust after a faulty software update. Can someone let me know if users have faced any issues post the 2.6 update?

The update is - Nothing OS 2.6(Spacewar-U2.6-240904-1634)

(Previously, last year, my phone went bust after a faulty software update and had to go the Nothing Service Center and they reset my device. I lost all my data)

Merged 1 post from Is the Nothing OS 2.6 stable for NP1?.

Stefan After using the phone for two months with this update, what do you say about its improvement in terms of performance and battery drain? Many have reported that it continues to harm the battery in hours of screen time, what can you tell me?

        Lor_M182
For me its good. I start charging my Phone (1) to 80% (usage 20-80% rule). From that perspective, i start to maintain long term battery health, because i want to keep this phone as much as possible. In previous months, i charge it to 100% always, but its not that good for battery longevity so i change a plan of charging it.
My phone have 310 charge cycles and still working like on first day.

Performance is never been a issue for me. Everything is super responsive and fast. I have my phone (1) for year now, and never experienced one bug. Everything is just excellent and im very happy whit phone (1).

Stefan They are supposed to be improving, but it is true that I used 2.5 and noticed that the battery was not as good as such. I don’t know how to measure the charge cycles, at least it doesn’t measure them for me in some apps. How do you follow the 80% + 20% rule? When it reaches 80%, do you stop charging the phone and charge it when it’s at 20%? Are there background charges that drain the battery? More than anything because it hurts me a lot not to use my cell phone for two hours and for it to waste 10%…

Firmware (bot) you need to improve phone 1 battery is not performing that well

I’m getting 4 hours of SOT at max which I used to hey of 6 hrs earlier.

Moreover please put an option to check battery health with count cycles.

            Lor_M182
Hi, i use “a battery” app to check charge cycles, it works only on Android 14 operating sistem. When we got Android 15 and NOS 3.0 we will have feature to see battery health status in settings. So to that date, i use that app to measure battery health.

Because Nothing phone (1) still dont have option to automatically cut off charging to 80%, when i get it on charger from like 30%, on average it take to charge 1h to 80% (I’m using Xioami 10W 2A charger) and i dont use my phone during charging. Then i go to the phone after 1 hour and wait until it reaches actually 80% (sometimes it was (73%,76%,78%) and i wait for couple minutes to get to 80%.

For me i can get 2.5h screen time from 80-30%. For my battery usage, i never get my phone below 20% or 25%. So on average I charge it from 35%-80%.

Stefan Out, excellent post mate. I’m sure it will be very useful. Do you also use the battery saver at certain times to make the most of that duration? Until recently it was about 5 hours and some screen time for me.But now in 2.6 the duration is not as long. The battery app you mentioned, with the Nothing aesthetic, tells me 193 charge cycles.

                Lor_M182
Hi, thanks for positive feedback 😀. I never use battery saver, because i don’t need it, and i think its not good for battery. I’m always on regular (normal) battery power mode. You mentioned your battery have 193, whitch is excellent, so if you start charging to 80% max, never get below 20%, you can extend your Li-ion battery health.
Here is a quick example of battery charging and information about:

                • Charging to 100% / 300-500 charging cycle
                  80% battery health

                • Charging to 80% max/ 1200 charging cycle
                  80% Battery health

I read tons of post about battery charging and whitch type is best, and that 80% max and never get below 20% is best for Li-ion battery.

I’m always glad to help just aks whatever you want. 😃. Glad this post is help for you and all of users.

Stefan Thank you always for your contribution to the community. We have to live with the system to improve the use of the device based on the demands, since we know that since 2.5 the battery lasts a little less than before. Surely there are more things to improve or disable to save energy, such as suspending applications in the background or denying location services. The reality is that things like this improve the life of the battery and its use on a daily basis, to always have good percentages 😁

I always charge to 100%, I never start charging before the battery reaches 5-6%. I also charge wirelessly when it is convenient for me. As a graduate electronics engineer, I don’t believe in myths and legends. My phone’s battery, after 2 years of use, is just as durable as when I took it out of the box.
