With the release of Phone (3) with the new Glyph Matrix System, I am introducing Counter - A Glyph Toy, an app inspired by physical clicker counters. It turns the Nothing Phone (3) into a clicker counter using the Glyph Matrix.

Counter displays numbers from 0 to 9999 via the Glyph Matrix, then loops back to 0. Long-press the Glyph Button to count up, or shake your device to reset.

The app was developed using the Glyph Matrix Developer Kit, which is well put together, intuitive, clearly explained, and includes good examples.

Daniel well thats an actual useful toy. I could have used this in the past , nice one. I am curious the dev process, I don’t have a P3 so presumably you need one to develop with as ive seen no simulator in the sdk? Do you publish the toy as some sort of toy app to the store or is it a package that gets delivered to some nothing toy store?

This is really cool.

I’ve got a couple of ideas for things that I hope to make (although I’ve got an uphill learning curve to be able to make them!) - how approachable is it for someone who has done some/a little programming and development but nothing on mobile?

Smii As a front end engineer, I don’t have much mobile development experience either. The SDK provides clear examples you can build on, and AI tools can also be really helpful to get you started 😜

Tor Yes, you do need a Phone (3) to test the toy. The development process is your typical Android app development, and once ready, the app is published to the Play Store like any other Android app.

One question. So, will any creation be able to be uploaded to the Play Store without needing Nothing’s authorization? And will it be fully integrated with the Nothing Phone 3?

If that’s the case, I think it’s great news to make creation easier without intermediaries.

An update was just released with the following changes:

Persistent Counter - The counter value is now saved locally, so your progress is retained across toy changes/timeout.
Reset with Shake - Reset the counter by shaking your device.
