adbo need dynamic island and fully customisable lock screen and full screen apd and status bar should be redesigned.

adbo please no need of that lock glimpse feature, it just makes the os more cluttered and feels like a bloatware

adbo the aod is still bugged out , it’s not a smooth experience with the AOD. Basically , when u turn your phone off , there’s the aod for 30 seconds , then for a fraction of a second there’s nothing and the aod is back after that pause. When u turn it on again , the animation is there (it wasn’t before after the pause) but there’s still another pause when turning it on. can it please be a seamless transition into it without any pause or blackout for a fraction of a second?.

Hello team,

I’m currently using the Nothing OS 4.0 Beta on my device Nothing Phone (3a)and I’ve run into an issue with the Google Search bar widget on the home screen:

The search bar appears but is completely unresponsive — taps or long-presses don’t bring up the search function.

I have tried restarting the phone, but the issue persists.

I like this 3a update but the feedbacks are:

*OS is bit slower

*Redesigned status bar is missing in this update

*Haptics are missing. Still needed for volume control and other areas

*New Volume slider Redesign

*Lockscreen Clock color customisation and custom text adding features

*New Ringtones and notification tones(if possible)

*New Animations all over the system.

*Improve the Notifications. Like we can stack or hide the notifications in the lockscreen and also grouping of notifications.

WilfredRoy In the AOD the remaining battery percentage is not properly aligned, and what is lock glimpse ?? I thought Nothing OS is free of Ads. The Battery life is also not good with OS 4.0, requesting the development team to fix the same. Also when are we getting the Stable Nothing OS 4.0 Update ??

Hungry_Learner Why Dynamic Island??? Nothing is not Apple!!! People in this community want iPhone features and phone hardware for £500 or less 😡. Nothing needs to have its own features and hardware, not copying others.

Hungry_Learner without being mean , this is Nothing not Xiaomi or Samsung, NothingOS is meant to be simple and not having too much colors to avoid distracting users, Nothing clearly stated that they don’t want to have influence from other companies on the past and that’s Nothing’s philosophy, like it or not , this is Nothing’s philosophy, if you want more colors on lock screen or more redesigned ui , then buy a Samsung Galaxy or Xiaomi.

Camera presets from playground not directly opening into the camera app, similar to essential apps
No sound on essential app widgets
Search suggestions keeps crashing
Music / video player noti in noti bar is now squished, it looked good when it filled the whole horizontal area
More than 2 widgets on home screen needed for essential apps
Lock screen glimpse kinda disappointing
Overall performance feels slightly lower than before on battery saver

My experience this far (~3h in):

“Settings Suggestions” keeps crashing, e.g. I can’t search in settings
Gboard keyboard was resized after the update and squished down so the language selector was on top of the enter key and I had to adjust the keyboard position and height manually. It didn’t let me push the keyboard down beneath the language selector while doing that so everything as expected now 🙂
Personally, I prefer the old gallery app and also camera app icon over the new icons. In my opinion, the new icons are too minimalist and striped down. I would like to see the old icons of these 2 apps return for the official release .

Beside that, I can’t complain much, instead I like the update very much and especially essential notifications and essential search are very neat and useful additions.

What I would like to see though for the official release is the ability to move apps from folders/categories in the smart app drawer (and preferably also have the AI learn from that move)

Edit (after 2 days):

App drawer inconsistently opens the keyboard despite the setting being enabled
Essential Search also isn’t as fast anymore when suggesting stuff like apps (only comparable aspect to Nothing OS 3.2), for example I type “cl” and it shows Clock app, then I continue typing “ as” and it needs (half) a second to show Clash Royale. Of course it can do much more now and I really like that but there is some optimization needed here
The Settings Suggestions often times crashes even when not in settings

daniel_schleiger Update: I contacted support regarding this issue und the solution works as follows:
"We apologize for the not good experience. Based on our current analysis, it is caused by a recent update to the Google app.
Google has released a fix now. Please follow the steps below to update theGoogle Play Protect Service:
1.Go toSettings → Apps → See all app
2.Tap the⋮ (More)icon in the upper right corner →Show system
3.Find and selectGoogle Play Protect Service
4.TapApp info→ scroll down and selectApp details
5.Update the app to versionU.43.playstore.oem.823158033
After updating, your device should return to normal performance."

Just Get Rid Of That Lock Glimpse! (or make it that it’s integrated into Nothing OS that’s free from adverts and customisable by the community or the users, not by some third party companies). It goes against the ideology of Nothing and Nothing OS. Developers should put efforts into other things which will make the OS much better instead of degrading it. Even if its off by default why put effort into that instead giving us more features this OS update feels mid as compared to 3.0

Yeah, and the implementation of Lock Glimpse pretty much is clean and minimal…. I have seen much worse implementations of random wallpaper apps.

remove lock glimpse feature- at least remove the random wallpaper thing and give the option for selected photos that’s better compared to this(ASAP). if nothing still want to monetize the thing, just don’t display any text on the screen just display the wallpaper and to access them you have to swipe.

Lock Glympse: Allow adding your own wallpaper/photo’s ASAP, I think that will reduce the backlash.
Icons: Yeah, the gallery and camera icons suck…
