I’m opening this topic to understand whether I am the only one affected, or if others are seeing the same behavior.
✅ My setup
• Nothing Phone (3) — OS 3.5
• Headphones firmware: 1.0.1.74 → updated later to 1.0.1.79
• Nothing X app: 3.4.6 -> updated later to 3.4.13
• Tested both AAC and LDAC, Low Latency ON/OFF
• Tested on 3 different Nothing Phone (3) → same results
• Full resets and fresh installs already done
✅ What I observed
✅ Previously (summer 2024)
Bass Reinforcement worked well when Spatial Audio was OFF.
With Spatial Audio ON, there could be distorted bass at high volume, but disabling Spatial Audio fixed it.
✅ Earlier (around 2–3 months ago)
A popup started appearing when trying to use Spacial Audio
“Bass Reinforcement must be disabled”
Since around that period, Bass Reinforcement seems to never activate anymore,
even when:
✔ Spatial Audio is OFF
✔ The Bass Reinforcement toggle is ON
✔ ANC / Transparency are OFF or ON
✔ Volume is low or high
I’m not saying the popup caused the issue — just that the timing is intriguing.
I’m not an expert, but it feels like something is blocking Bass Reinforcement internally (a flag or compatibility rule?), even in situations where the feature should work.
✅ Additional behaviors that might be related
• ANC / Transparency reduce bass a lot
→ Ear (2)/Ear (a) do not behave this way
→ Could be normal, but worth noting
• Until recently (firmware 1.0.1.74)
→ when turning ANC/Transparency OFF, a very strong bass appeared for 1–2 seconds then returned to a neutral balance… Like the system was recalculating bass reinforcement?
But with firmware 1.0.1.79
→ this short “bass spike” disappeared
→ but Bass Reinforcement still does not activate
• Simple EQ → “More Bass” works fine
→ so Equalizer processing seems unrelated to the issue

✅ About audio testing
I listen to a wide range of music, including tracks with strong sub-bass.
I also have a test playlist I used during the Paris Community Event on July 10th with the demo units — and Bass Reinforcement sounded there was speechless 👌
(low and high volume)
So the product is definitely capable of delivering great results.
I also had a long conversation with the support and this is just in stand by with no news.
