RapidZapper But still our Qualcomm chipsets are stronger than the Tensor chipset and am sure Nothing can handle more than the Google chipset even if they make there own chipsets
5 year OS update is must now.
Not at £169 for the CheapMoFo 1.
5 years update is must now if you ay like that.

RapidZapper I made a search for how many updates can Nothing phone 1, Nothing phone 2,Nothing phone 2a and 2a plus. Nothing phone 1 and phone 2 can support a 4 years of os update according to the sources given here.
Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 chipset is a flagship chipset and it can for sure support 4 years atleast . I can understand 5 years is a bit too much to ask from a 4 years brand. But I personally don’t feel it too much to ask for a extension of 1 more year which is 4 year. The chipset is capable of doing it then why not?
Please consider this as a request and do the needed.
BassimBinYoosaf Well that’s up to Snapdragon, actually End of Life of this specific chip is set on Android 15 and we’re getting Android 16 which is already a +1 over normal limitation

Okkay I agree on the side of Nothing phone 1 it has a increased software policy. But Nothing phone 2 was started from the beginning of Android 13 and Android 16 is just 3 years and there is no extended period in it. Actually in Samsung galaxy z fold 4 snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 was used from Android 12 and it will recieve upto Android 16 that is a proper 4 year.
So if the manufacturing brand wishes to increase the software they can take it one more year as Nothing phone 2 used snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 from Android 13 to Android 17
Leave all other things ahead . Nothing introduced Nothing Phone 2 as their flagship model. Most new flagship phones gives their user 4 years of software update.
Technology advances very quickly every year we have more powerful and efficient processors and with this the software adapts to the hardware.
For me it is pure marketing of companies offering long periods of updates just to keep their customers happy, but they forget the quality that will be of a nothin phone 2 when you pass those 5 years, I assure you that it will be slow or lacking certain functions that You will not be able to operate well due to your already obsolete hardware
I am satisfied with the company and I see that they compare many characteristics of other brands, but that is the beauty of this large market, we have to choose if they do not like the proposal, go with another brand, of course there are deficiencies in nothing but if they really want It is better to ask for a company with common sense, not like children throwing a tantrum because they don’t put or do things the way they want.
I agree with your point but if you make a search yourself you can find that snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 is a chipset which is capable of even handling 5 years of software update. In such a case the brand should be providing atleast a 4 years of OS update. That is a basic necessity of a user.
As an Indian user , most Indians uses a device to its maximum lifetime. So it will be a good decision if they bring 1 more OS year for their users.
BassimBinYoosaf Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is an Android 12 chip, no matter what the base version is on the phone at launch

I agree that it is an Android 12 processor. But it was used from Android 13 so technically 1 year of OS update can be added by the manufacturing brand by requesting to Qualcomm
BassimBinYoosaf have you used or seen performance comparisons of 8 plus gen 1 with the current one, I still insist that the time they ask for is too much, it would greatly affect the quality of the product
And about the use of India, I understand that it is not easy to change as often as in other countries, which is usually easier given their economies, but brands are not creating only for their country.
Apple has its own processors and they are among the most powerful and offer up to 6 years of updates, but when you take an iPhone 16 and compare it with a 12 you see that the performance and functions are very different despite running the same operating system, so I defend and I still think that five years is a long time for me, the maximum would be 4 years and the ideal would be 3.

Bro I am not asking for a 5 years of software update. I am asking for 4years of software and 5 years of security update. I can understand that 5 years is a bit more and might destroy the overall usage .
But my point was that it is capable of handling 5 years and we users are getting only a 3 years of os update and 4 years of security update.
BassimBinYoosaf and as previous comments say, it is a young company, you cannot demand so much.
Even those 4 years that you ask for represent a great effort for the company and as they say in my country, I prefer quality over quantity.
Bro I am requesting not demanding. I am requesting for a feature which I feel would be very beneficial for people’s in my country. But this may also help people’s from other countries also.
And I am aware that Nothing is a new brand and i respect their works and effort to make the user happy. But that doesn’t mean I can’t make a feature request.
BassimBinYoosaf Honestly, this is no longer seen as a simple request, that’s why I say they demand too much and if you browse the forum you will see what I mean and if the people from your country are the ones who make the most “requests or complaints” , but I feel that it is not the way, I believe that patience and support, give them the benefit of the doubt and for the moment accept what they offer. He assured you that offering more years is on his mind but for the moment It is not possible, there are more important problems to focus on that currently affect us, such as camera calibration improving general stability.
I DEMAND 5 YEARS FOR THE CHEAPMOFO 1.
CheapMoFo1 users unite!!!!!
2 years OS updates is weak and now I’m half way through!

Bro if you feel like you don’t want such a feature it is not that no one wants it. With all respect, if a whole request chats is created for asking such a feature it doesn’t mean that I’m asking for Indian users alone. Please understand there are many others who also think it would be good if they provide 4 years . But the only difference between them and me is that I brought some real life examples and showed it can be done. And I don’t think I was being disrespectful. I was speaking for me and some other users in this chats and that doesn’t makes you disrespectful.

BassimBinYoosaf I would like those features but I am realistic and I don’t see a way to guarantee good quality with what the company currently is
and the tests you give are really not realistic, you are comparing nothing with the ability that Samsung has, for example, to offer support over the years, it is impossible with the current conditions of nothing
Bro I am not simply speaking without any evidences just refer the sources that I have attached in the previous replies. It is technically possible to extend the software policy.
BassimBinYoosaf ChatGPT is not a source, this is the actual source applicable to Phone (1) and Phone (2)
4 Year of updates which for Phone (2) processor start with Android 12 and end with Android 15 (and Nothing making it a +1 with Android 16) https://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2020/12/qualcomm-and-google-announce-collaboration-extend-android-os-support-and
