⚠️ In letzter Zeit haben sich viele von uns über das nächste Update gewundert – und es fühlt sich an, als wäre das Unternehmen im Radio verstummt. Ich dachte, es wäre ein guter Zeitpunkt, dies hier zur Sprache zu bringen. Nur ein kleiner Beitrag von jemandem, der Nothing wirklich mag – aber auch ein bisschen frustriert ist. Eines der Dinge, die mir an dieser Marke von Anfang an am besten gefallen haben, war das Gemeinschaftsgefühl. Nicht nur ein weiteres großes Unternehmen, das sich von seinen Nutzern distanziert fühlt, sondern etwas, das tatsächlich versucht, zuzuhören. Es gibt sogar Initiativen wie den Community Board Observer, die die Community gegenüber dem Unternehmen repräsentieren sollen. Aber manchmal fühlt es sich in der Praxis etwas anders an. Hier gibt es Dutzende Beiträge, die ziemlich einfache Fragen stellen: Wann kommt das nächste Update? Wie ist der Status einer Funktion? Was ist mit einem bekannten Fehler? Zum Beispiel: Wann können wir ungefähr mit Nothing OS 4.1 rechnen? Kein genaues Datum, kein Versprechen – manchmal nicht einmal ein einfaches „Wir arbeiten daran“. Nur... Stille. 👀 Das ist ein bisschen lustig, denn diese Community ist voll von Leuten, die wirklich dabei sein wollen. Die Leute lesen Änderungsprotokolle, testen Betas, melden Fehler und verbringen Zeit damit, Feedback zu schreiben. Aber manchmal kommt es mir so vor, als würden wir hauptsächlich miteinander reden ... während sich das Unternehmen selbst im Nothing-Modus befindet. Technischer Support kann sich manchmal ein bisschen ähnlich anfühlen – wie ein Chat mit einer KI. Nur… nicht einer der beeindruckenden 😅 Die gleichen Fragen wiederholten sich noch einmal, generische Lösungen, die wir bereits ausprobiert hatten, und manchmal sogar Vorschläge, das Telefon zur Garantie einzusenden – selbst wenn das Problem eindeutig ein Softwarefehler ist. Und das ist schade, denn die Community selbst ist tatsächlich sehr stark. Die Leute helfen einander, untersuchen Fehler, schlagen Ideen vor und warten auf Updates – manchmal fühlt es sich so an, als wären wir noch mehr engagiert als das Unternehmen. Natürlich kann nicht alles öffentlich geteilt werden und die Softwareentwicklung folgt nicht immer einem perfekten Zeitplan. Aber manchmal konnte sogar eine kleine Nachricht des Teams Dutzende Spekulationsbeiträge retten. Daher vielleicht nur eine kleine Bitte: Wir brauchen keine Geschäftsgeheimnisse oder eine vollständige Roadmap. Manchmal sogar eine kurze Antwort wie: „Wir arbeiten noch daran“ oder „Das Update wird etwa im Monat X erwartet“ kann viel bewirken. Denn wenn es hier bereits eine so engagierte Community gibt – es wäre eine Schande, es in „Nothing“ zu belassen 🙃 \*P.S. ⚠️ Lately, a lot of us have been wondering about the next update — and it feels like the company has gone radio silent. Thought it’s a good time to raise this here.

Just a small post from someone who really likes Nothing — but is also a little bit frustrated.

One of the things I liked most about this brand from the beginning was the community feeling.

Not just another huge company that feels distant from its users, but something that actually tries to listen. There are even initiatives like the Community Board Observer that are supposed to represent the community to the company.

But sometimes in practice… it feels a bit different.

There are dozens of posts here asking pretty simple questions:

When is the next update coming? What’s the status of a feature? What about a known bug?

For example: when can we roughly expect Nothing OS 4.1?

Not an exact date, not a promise — sometimes not even a simple “we’re working on it”.

Just… silence. 👀

Which is a bit funny, because this community is full of people who genuinely want to be involved.

People read changelogs, test betas, report bugs, and spend time writing feedback.

But sometimes it feels like we’re mostly talking to each other…

while the company itself is in Nothing mode.

Technical support can sometimes feel a bit similar — like chatting with an AI.

Just… not one of the impressive ones 😅

The same questions repeated again, generic solutions we already tried, and sometimes even suggestions to send the phone in for warranty — even when the issue is clearly a software bug.

And that’s a shame, because the community itself is actually really strong.

People help each other, investigate bugs, suggest ideas, and wait for updates — sometimes it feels like we’re even more invested than the company.

Of course, not everything can be shared publicly, and software development doesn’t always follow a perfect schedule.

But sometimes even a small message from the team could save dozens of speculation posts.

So maybe just a small request:

We don’t need trade secrets or a full roadmap.

Sometimes even a short reply like:

“We’re still working on it”

“The update is expected around month X”

can go a long way.

Because if there’s already such an engaged community here —

it would be a shame to leave it in '‘Nothing’'🙃

lolifnotely Dear friend, you’re wondering why NOTHING doesn’t reply when you ask for news about OS 4.1.

For example, here there are users who are still asking when a camera update will arrive for N Phone 2 (which has now reached the end of its life), or when the Gallery will receive basic editing tools, and so on.

Well, I wonder the same thing… but I doubt we’ll get an answer.

To give you some insight from the Moderator side: the golden rule for updates like Nothing OS 4.1 is simply that if there isn’t an announcement yet, it’s because it’s still too soon to share concrete details. Nothing generally avoids giving rough timelines because software development is unpredictable, and missing a ‘rough ETA’ usually causes more frustration than staying quiet until it’s ready. This is usually why we reply with the following message on such posts:

OS update schedules are not usually announced ahead of time - you can keep an eye on Firmware Updates and Nothing’s socials for any releases.

If you look back at how Nothing OS 4.0 was handled, there was a clear pipeline: an initial ‘Arrives Soon’ teaser, followed by the General Release, and then the Rollout Updates. As soon as that machinery starts for 4.1, it will be blasted everywhere:

From what I’ve seen in the past this is usually more likely to happen with major releases (like 4.0) then with minor releases (4.1).

I’d propose something to Nothing.

We need people to test, not just betas for major updates, but for bug fixes, apps, everything.

We need the community involved in the development, not everyone, but those who are available to sacrifice their experience for others.

And I hear you, as someone who makes reports to support frequently, it feels like chatting not to an AI, but to an algorithm. Always the same responses, “we forwarded this to the development team” without any status or actual outcome…

The only time I was heard.. was with Extra Dark mode, I mentioned a system that exploited Material you to give all material apps pitch black background and nothing tones, but they were “lazy” and only delivered more System wide pure black backgrounds.

After nearly 3 years, the 2a issue, the HDR system that causes the famous screen issues, nothing always said to be fixing them, offered replacement screens.. but it’s a software issue so simple… it’s literally just around how HDR is not properly built.

Hope someday at least one single person hears us.

If someone is reading this, i give my hope to you, hope that someday we represent something more.

Mr Steel Very well said but my point is you should prioritize the CMF PHONE 2 PRO also in updates like there are also alott of CMF phone 2 pro users. Giving the update delay is okay but giving it last hurts 🤕. As NOS 4.0 was given last to the CMF. I’m a Nothing fan I share it’s problems also and share the good experience also. But delay in the CMF phone 2 pro gives frustration as we see other users experience it a way too early . Even the camera lag haven’t fix from the last update. I wish you will have a look on CMF brand also :⁠-⁠) . There are alot of glitches in cameras plss have a look.

Since OS 4.1 is more or less just considered a small feature update, it’ll likely roll out alongside the upcoming security updates within the next few months. That’s how they handled those smaller releases (2.6, 3.5) in the past.

Yet I agree, giving a small sidenote like “Nothing OS 4.1 will be rolled out to other OS 4.0 within the next few months.” would have simply avoided further speculation and frustration, since some users are seemingly fearing their devices will be left out.

@“sean (1)”#p269992Yess buddy you are right but we don’t need updates on time we just want that they fix the glitches and bugs of cameras that what all we need .It’s okay if we are getting the updates late but fixing the camera bugs is more important (I’m CMF phone 2 pro user).At first when I purchased the phone when it was running Ig NOS3.2 It was fabulous like the quality was superb but in the latest updates it has make it like not soo good🥲.Hope they will fix it in next Update once they fix that things then it’s all done we love Nothing 😋.

M3Mz I’m sure that NOTHING is aware of the issues affecting its phones; the reports from this community and from other reputable forums certainly haven’t gone unnoticed.

As much as I’ve tried, I’ve only been able to identify two possible reasons that could justify this unfortunate situation…

NOTHING has decided to focus entirely on hype, aesthetics, transparency and colors, while leaving software/hardware optimization at a merely acceptable level.

or…
Even though NOTHING cares about and listens to its community, it simply doesn’t have a development team capable of fixing the issues we’re all familiar with.

Whichever of these reasons is the real one, NOTHING will soon have to face the reality of a growing number of dissatisfied users, with negative consequences for the brand’s future.
