Nothing Phone (2) deserves Nothing OS 5.0! 🖤

NOT being mean or disrespectful here, but these posts are getting a little old….

The Nothing Phone 2 will no longer get major releases. You will only receive security patches.

You can beg, kick, scream, plead, and argue your case as much as you like. It sucks, but Nothing is a business and they have to move forward. When you bought the device you knew its lifespan for updates as it was clearly stated.

There are no ifs, ands, buts, no excuses.

I can answer all of your questions as a customer and a user:

Do you hear us, Nothing? - Yup, answer is still no.
Will you consider us? - Nope. We already had a roadmap in place for the Nothing Phone 2 and are moving beyond that.
Will you give the Phone (2) one more chance? - See Above Response.
Even a simple response from the Nothing team would mean a lot to us. - They are busy completing the update for eligible phones. They are also trying to grow as a company. Making concessions for a limited community is not cost effective.
We are still here. - Great! Happy to have you!
We are still supporting Nothing. - Awesome! Upgrade your phone!
We just want to know that Nothing is listening. - They are, and the answer is still no!

Please, stop begging - it will not change anything - it’s just getting tired and old. You are entitled to nothing, no special treatment, you bought their device knowing the stipulations. That’s it. Game over.

Any update on Essential Apps access for Phone (2)?

Nothing team/community members haven’t provided any clear update about Essential Apps access for Phone (2).

Earlier, we were told that access would be provided “from next week”, but it’s already been a couple of weeks and many Phone (2) users still haven’t received access or any further information.

Now that Nothing OS 5.0 has been announced and Phone (2) isn’t getting OS 5.0, I’m starting to wonder whether Essential Apps access is limited to Phone (3) / Nothing OS 5.0 supported devices.

Can anyone from the Nothing team confirm:

Will Nothing Phone (2) get Essential Apps access?
Is the rollout still happening for Phone (2)?
If yes, what is the expected timeline?
Or is Essential Apps now limited to newer Nothing devices?

It would be good to get a clear answer instead of leaving Phone (2) users waiting without any information.

The Essential Apps issue - and this is just specualtion…

End of major software support. Nothing’s NOS 5.0 page states that the Phone (2) “has reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0.” The Essential Apps Builder is being developed and rolled out as part of OS 5.0, so the Phone (2) is cut off from further updates to the feature.
Staged access rollout. Even during the OS 4.0 era, the Phone (2) was listed as compatible (capped at 2 simultaneous widgets vs. 6 on the Phone (3)), but the native Essential Apps app that launched in July 2026 rolls out access in waves — prioritizing earlier Alpha/Beta testers over device class. The Phone (2) has been confirmed as not yet receiving that access, and with no OS 5.0 update coming, it’s unlikely to be a priority going forward.

In short - it’s not a hardware limitation per se — it’s that the Phone (2) has been dropped from the OS update cycle that’s not carrying the feature forward.

Timings are indicative and subject to change. Rollout will be phased by region and carrier where applicable. Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 have reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0.

Shahulnazzer I totally agree! It makes no sense to not give it to Nothing phone 2 users.

We were the 1st people to buy a Nothing device at upper mid premium segment then with all it its risk. We have been probably the biggest endorsers if the brand too.

Had there been multiple flagship devices after Nothing Phone 2, then I would still understand. But this is legit the 2nd last Flagship phone that nothing had before Nothing Phone 3.

I am using a Nothing Phone (2) and I would like to clarify an important question regarding future software updates.

The Nothing Phone (2) specifications include:

- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

- RAM: 12 GB

- Launch OS: Nothing OS 2.0 based on Android 13

- Software support: Promised 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security updates

My questions are:

1. Is the Nothing Phone (2) officially eligible for Android 17 and Nothing OS 5?

2. If Android 17 is within the promised major Android update support, why is the Phone (2) not receiving the Android 17/Nothing OS 5 upgrade?

3. Does the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 or any other hardware limitation prevent the Phone (2) from supporting Android 17 or Nothing OS 5?

4. If the Phone (2) is compatible with Android 17 from a hardware perspective, will Nothing reconsider providing the update?

5. Could you please provide an official clarification on the final Android version and Nothing OS version that the Nothing Phone (2) will receive?

The Phone (2) is still a powerful device with capable hardware, so I would appreciate a clear explanation regarding its Android 17 and Nothing OS 5 compatibility.

We’re not dumb — we all know that the promised 3-year software support for the Nothing Phone (2) has officially ended.

But this is where the community comes in. ❤️

If the community comes together and genuinely requests it, maybe Nothing could consider making an exception for the Nothing Phone (2) and bring Nothing OS 5.0 in a later phase.

It doesn’t have to change the official support policy. It could simply be a special exception based on strong community demand.

After all, if communities can’t make their voices heard and influence decisions, then what are communities for? 😄

Nothiq We already saw what happened with Phone (1). The community asked but Nothing still ended support without making an exception. Its worth trying for Phone (2) but please don’t keep your expectations too high it’ll only hurt. ❤️

That’s called a marketing stunt in that vid. He’s saying that iPhones are boring so that anyone looking for a change will switch to Nothing.

Also, in case you didn’t notice, at its current $4.665 T (that’s trillion, yes) market cap, Apple is “only” 3,588.46 (358,846%, correct) larger than Nothing ($1.3 B):

This is Frist flagship phone in nothing side but we don’t have come update this model is not outdated so kindly give update only os update not Android version update so do for any possibility. thanks 👍🏻
