It’s official - Nothing OS 3.0 is coming in December.

In the meantime, Yuri, the Software Product Design Lead at Nothing will be answering some of your questions about our latest major OS update.

In case you missed it, last week, Carl sat with Yuri in a video to take us through a first look of Nothing OS 3.0.

In the video, Yuri introduced a sleek, redesigned user interface with refined typography, enhanced dot matrix animations, and newly customisable lock screens. Quick Settings have been revamped, offering better usability, and integrating an AI-powered Smart Drawer for app organisation.

A new Countdown Widget was showcased, and the long-awaited Nothing Gallery app improves photo processing speed, while AI tools like image segmentation and future AI upscaling elevate the photo experience. Shared widgets allow users to connect with friends and family, adding a social layer to the OS. The open beta will begin rolling out this month, aiming for a full release in December this year.

Now that you’ve had a first look at Nothing OS 3.0, we thought you might want to ask Yuri some questions…

    Like with the current font the status bar icons are not optimised when you use the smallest font size and smallest display size.

    I have raised this bug multiple time but still not solved. I hope NOS 3.0 is more well optimised in different scenarios.

        Continuity and an overall polished finish are two important aspects of any software. Where do you think this shows the most in NOS 3.0? What new features of NOS 3.0 do you think users will love the most?

        1. Will Nothing OS 3.0 introduce new features that make better use of the hardware in Nothing devices, such as improved haptics or sound customization?
        2. With the redesigned user interface, will users be able to choose between the refined typography and the old design? How flexible is the UI in terms of customization?

        Natalie ✨ will their be a dailer implementation in the future and add an option to see how much ram is left in the recent menu

          Below are the questions raised in my mind when I saw the video first.

          1. Was all the features revealed or still something in store for us? If something is there, can you reveal us.. it can be minor things too 😜
          2. Expected some enhancements and fun to the existing widgets and more new widgets, but only one was mentioned in the video. Anything to expect, because if you are going to use the same thing for a long time, you will really get bored 😴
          3. And for the pedometer and screen time widgets, can we have an interface to see the previous data which will make the widgets more functional and useful ☺️. Any plans?
          4. There are some things related to security (like password prompt before switching off the phone) we can see in community as a most requested feature. Anything from nothing team especially for security enhancements? 🤷‍♀️
          5. Also there were many issues related to haptics and camera performance throughout the community. will there be any improvements on both of these with Nothing OS 3.0? ☹️
          6. In home screen customisation, the major thing we were missing is icon size customisation. Because in default theme icons look huge 😔
          7. What about the private space. Are we going to use android 15 private space or the existing one? If it is existing one, will we get a seperate password protection other than screen lock pin or pattern? 🔒
          8. Anything for the nothing ecosystem and connected experience?

          I loved the introduction of the NType font for bigger headlines but for “numbers” such as clock I feel that NDot could be the best solution.

          It is actually pretty easy to convert NDot into animating numbers, and I hope we will see this someday.

          I know some don’t like Apples Dynamic Island but I kind of think its a genius way to make the camera cutout useful. Would nothing ever be interested in coming out with their own flavor? Nothings animations are already top notch so I’d imagine nothings Dynamic Island could rival Apple’s.

            Natalie ✨ There are many community-made concepts for apps. How much do these influence your workflow in crafting better experiences and new native apps for the Nothing OS? Will there be any tighter collaboration between the concept creators and the software team? I, as one, am really looking forward to such opportunity!
