Seems like a really silly thing to leave out of one model vs the other. Considering the hardware of both models are seemingly the same except for cameras, would this be a software limitation?

I purchased the 3a due to not really liking/needing the pro model, and literally missed the fact that the non pro is missing eSim support. I travel a lot and use eSims quite often. Will figure a way around it, but just wondering if this is software limited and may be added in the future or if it’s a done deal.

jimjam-nyc hey mate. I’d imagine it’s to do with buyer persona and product cost. They probably looked at ‘how many 3a buyers would use esim’ and looked at the cost of adding the eSim and decided to opt against it on the standard (3a) to keep cost down.

Also, they needed a few things to make the Pro, Pro… eSim is one of those features.

hrry changed the title to Why no eSim on non Pro (3a)? .

Makes Sense! I also just realized the “e” in e-sim stands for embedded. So there is def a hardware component. For some reason I always thought it stood for emulated.
