The main point of contention with the 3a (and other Nothing cameras) is people use it for different stuff. It is both good and bad at different things.
The 3a is great at taking what I call “disposable” photos - random shots of trees, a building, or a bin bag with rubbish pouring out - they’ll look all cool and artsy with blown out HDR. Problem is - these photos you’ll probably never look at again in your life because they are ultimate just disposable
On the other hand the 3a is very poor at taking cherished photos like of friends/family/pets - it shits the bed with any minor movement, skin tone is so off they look alien, and can even get that awful One Plus style “halo” effect where people’s faces or bodies are glowing due to poor HDR processing.
At least a good GCam port can fix the shutter lag on the 3a and colour science. I’ve been able to take so many nice photos of my daughter using GCam, although overall I still regret buying a 3a due to the stock camera as I feel if Nothing cared they could fix the camera as it is clearly capable of FAR more as GCam shows
Oh, and before someone tells me “Use the feedback tool to send them a suggestion” - I’ve already done that, and as usual their awful AI customer service told me to restart my device and clear the camera app data/cache to fix it… unbelievably dumb
