Phone (3a) Series Battery Life Discussion

I recently purchased the Nothing Phone 3a and have noticed that the battery drains very quickly during WhatsApp video calls. Even with a full charge, the battery percentage drops significantly within a short period. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Are there any settings or optimizations that could help reduce battery consumption during video calls? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

themountofmint 3hr instagram and still 8+ sot is crazy! 😱. I’m never getting that if I use instagram that much lol. My phone will be over within 6hr 😅. But on the positive side I don’t use it that much and last I finished charging my phone was on 1 Dec around 7pm and I still have 27% left for today. I think I’ll charge at night or evening today if I use heavy 😀. I understand that feeling paranoid, thinking what if phone dies outside. Honestly I also keep my phone charged when I’m going out. I still don’t own any powerbank yet because I never needed it. And with this battery which can last me the third day it’s even better hehe 😁

It is the same bug which I’ve already sent through feedback. I sent it back during beta 1 update. Unfortunately in response I had some ai slop i think. Exchanged like 5-6 emails with the team but they said it’s the default android function. I was also pretty sure it’s not it’s clearly bugging and it’s not catching the right color from the wallpaper sometimes but the team kept repeating their response and I stopped then 🤷🏾‍♂️. I only had this bug since os4 beta, before that it never happened to me.

FabioR 🇩🇪 my guy how 😱 are you on battery saver or 60hz? Also if you add up those minutes it’ll come around 7hr+ and not 10. It’s a bug sometimes the battery ui bugs and adds up 2hr/4hr of random usage. You can check it if you click each of the battery bar you will see random 2hr usage bar in between.

It’s not about 3A only, but I think all nothing devices have a very bad and disappointing battery back-up.

My CMF Phone 1 also doesn’t last long even after the full charge. I don’t even realize when 80 to 50% gets exhausted.

I have GPS, NFC and Bluetooth turned off most of the time. I am on 5G and the refresh rate is set to dynamic.

My battery saver mode turns on at 20%, that’s usually when I plug my phone in to charge.

Also since it’s winter time I am using the dim display function most of the time.

Temperatures outside usually avarage around 8°C where I live.

PredatorPreys13 seems I also gonna write to the support about this, because I can’t explain how that works. As I remember it didn’t catch colours like all the time I’m using this phone. Maybe a few times it chose right colours, but then something failed and I was getting the same like “standard” colours for everything again.

FabioR 🇩🇪 Impressive! I also keep gps and bluetooth on all the time and dynamic refresh rate. Recently I’ve started using battery saver at 20% again usually I don’t use battery saver I just use normal mode. I also keep display brightness usually under 35% most of the time unless out. Temperatures in my area are 8-22°c which is a lot of fluctuation lol but yea. Also you don’t use instagram I see and also you’re a fellow metrolist user 👍🏾😀

It’s been almost 6 months use nothing 3a pro battery backup seriously very disappointing #nothing should to fix it with system update.

ShagunTiwari Post your battery usage screenshots then the community will be able to help you. Unless it’s a faulty hardware which is rarely the case, most of the time it’s user apps or background usage or something.

What can I say, the phone has a mind of it’s own! So it’s need battery to power it’s mind.

No settings, no os update will solve this battery drain

themountofmint Yep atleast when more people say the same thing they will check it thoroughly eventually 🤷🏾‍♂️. Also have you downloaded the essential search? It’s available for our phones also now I’ve just got it this afternoon and I like it already plus now it will work with essential space using its “memory” feature 😀. I use essential space a lot. I used to think that OnePlus and oppo had it better with their mind space but then I saw reviews and how it worked and realised essential space is much more functional. Do you use it often too or remapped the button?

PredatorPreys13 I installed it somewhere from Google as it’s not available for me. It only does searching through Google for now and phone directly. I also can’t enable essential memory even though I updated the app

themountofmint Oh is that so? It is available on the playstore officially now I downloaded it from there. And infact I already enabled the memory because I got update for essential space yesterday and then today the essential search became available.

PredatorPreys13 I still have server error while enabling Essential Memory… essential search isn’t working also. Need to wait, but how many times? And does my region where I’m living affect to that?

themountofmint Oh no 😐 actually I checked and yes it’s not available in Russia. Google ai mode says so. But I’ve also found an old post from nothing community in which one community moderator told someone that it’s only available in Australia, Brazil, the EEA, India, Turkey, the UK, and the US. So maybe that’s why memory is also not working because it needs search.

This is the SOT i got today from charging it to 100-24

Idk why there is no improvement in battery SOT because i used to get this range of sot from 15-90 but if I did the same range of charging i will get only around 7hrs making me to plug in twice a day

any suggestions guys

BenedictRafael I think 8+ sot even with streaming is great since you’ve watched a lot of video content. Even 7 is enough imo if there’s a lot of streaming so it’s good 👍🏾.

PredatorPreys13 I changed because my English-speaking socials are all under themountofmint nickname, so I changed it here to prevent members from being flounder a bit. All my russian-speaking accounts are under maonsen, maonsentsu and maonsenma (for personal accounts in telegram for example) nicknames.

Idk I thought to remain a bit anonymous here rn so I even removed myself from an avatar😂 like I feel myself that way. This night my Ear’s got a glitch which I texted support about and then they got fixed like without a support response. I didn’t understand what this hell even was but I went to buds2 and flip to listen to music. Now I’m gonna do a post in Samsung Members community (Samsung has region-related communities mostly) with the last photos I did on my Galaxies and post that picture with a new ecosystem🤪 I usually did photos threads there as there’s a whole feed with everything and two separate feeds with photos and media content and bugs-related one.

It’s good. I myself never put my pictures or anything on the internet. I do rarely sometimes but most of the time I just use meme images and no posts nothing. Infact I’ve joined this community in October and I own this phone since May. And even then I just started using the community recently few days ago. I’ve yet to buy ear from nothing. I might get buds 2a later. Currently I have a local “truke buds a1” which work fine for me. Flip to listen to music? Is that a nothing buds feature? 🤔

I owned a samsung a long time back. A samsung duos java phone. It was so good after I flashed and modded it. Had a notification shade on Java phone.

Do you make content? I’m asking that because I’ve seen you posting a lot of pics and stuff 😅.

PredatorPreys13 I was using themountofmint long time ago for almost everything and after a few time I was forced to change it on my native socials, because my followers couldn’t read it right. So after a few years of making different names I did maonsen. I have too many networks and I can’t use a single username😅

I used Samsung Internet at first when I moved to Nothing because I liked it and got used. Only then I started to move to Chrome everywhere and on my phone also. Synchronization is better choice for me than adblocking or smth. I’d better be afraid of our local apps that are forced to be installed since 1st September. Indians now have the same sh&t :/ Chrome is just a funny toy at this point.

I flounder you a bit, I’m sorry😅 I’m not gonna do it again I promise (but never say never at the next 7 years, but still, oh).

I remember the time I put pictures of my idol back then and even used her surname. This was like a “safe move” to me. Then I started doing expert stuff, telling about designs, visuals and etc, and also pandemic time was great for my confidence. I started posting myself, telling about myself, sharing stuff I know and learned myself. So yeah I’m a content creator and I like doing videos. That’s why I did unpackings of my Nothing products on my socials.

This night my right earbud got discharged, and I put on my Buds2 and Z Flip5 to continue listening to music. Idk what was that Glyph, but after charging the case to 100% that earbud got visible and everything’s now normal. I didn’t understand.

I’ve joined this community in May when I’ve got my watches. But I thought I’d better start commenting something when I change my phone, so I started being a member in July.

Samsung with Bada OS? Am I right? So it had Java store with games and etc?
