I received my Nothing Phone 3a Pro today and I’m really pleased with it but for some odd reason I cannot get the Android auto to work. I’ve tried restarting, switching cables, removing updates and updating again etc. All the common fixes you can find on the internet. I’ve tried messing about with the usb configurations but nothing (pun intended) seems to work. I’ve attached a photo of the issue that shows up on the cars infotainment screen. As seen on the photo when connected to the car it says that the device is called VOLCANO-QRD something something something, however when I connected the BT it shows up as Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. My car only has wired android auto and it works with a pixel 7 that is on android 15 as well. Can somebody help me? I’ve been racking my brain for hours at this point
Unable to setup Android auto on Phone (3a) - help
Same issue here, hopefully somebody knows what’s going on
GabrieleStockunaite Im pretty sure that it’s a software bug of some kind. I got a reply from support and it’s pretty much the same steps that I’ve tried already.
We’re really sorry to hear that you’re having an issue with failing to connect to Android Auto. We’re here to help in any way we can. We kindly request that you follow the troubleshooting steps provided below to address the issue.
Update Software:
Ensure your Nothing Phone 3a Pro is running the latest version of Nothing OS and Android Auto. Go to Settings > System > System Updates to check for updates.
Enable USB Debugging:
Activate USB debugging in Developer Options:
Navigate to Settings > About Phone > Tap “Build Number” seven times.
Return to Settings > System > Developer Options and enable USB debugging.
Use a High-Quality USB Cable:
Confirm that your USB cable supports data transfer, not just charging. If possible, test with multiple cables.
Check Car Compatibility:
Verify that your car’s infotainment system supports Android Auto. Consult the vehicle’s manual or manufacturer for compatibility details.
Reset Connections:
Restore your car’s multimedia system to factory settings and reconnect your phone using a wired connection.
Switch USB Ports:
If your car has multiple USB ports, try connecting through a different port.
Android Auto Permissions:
Ensure Android Auto permissions are granted when prompted on your phone during setup.
Please try these and let us know how it goes or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
Ryan Madulid

I think that the only solution right now is to wait for a software update.
Having been a lifelong Apple user I’ve decided to go over to Android. My problem is my 3a will just not connect to my car. I’ve now tried 2 wireless connectors with no luck. Even hard wiring doesn’t seem to work. The connection just loops from connecting to disconnected. Is anyone else having this problem or can someone point me in the right direction. Have so far factory reset the head unit, forgot all previous phone connections, turned phone off and asked a twenty something at work, who’s a committed Android user, left handed and therefore a witch. Thanks.
I have exactly the same problem.
I have also informed nothing.
Let’s see what comes out of it.
Tried different cables, with and without USB debugging without success unfortunately. Then tried it with a few other cell phones and it works without any problems.
I have an Opel Astra K, this car has Bluetooth function, but not for Android Auto, for this I have to use the USB socket, unfortunately I only have one of them omit I could not try it on others.
I hope Nothing fixes this problem quickly.
mikk_viidul even I am facing similar issue. I got same response from Nothing. Unfortunately, I am clueless on how to remediated it as I tried almost everything
SnehalRege I’ve been going back and forth with nothing’s support. They asked me for log files and they promised to look into it and get back to me
My android auto works perfectly for the 3a pro
I also have a problem with Android Auto, and interestingly, it worked at first. I think the issue started after one of the updates. I tried connecting to an Opel Astra and a Honda Civic — in both cases, the connection still works with my old phone, so the cable and the cars are fine. (Nothing 3a)
Hello, greetings from Mexico, here I have a similar problem, I can’t make Android Auto work in a 2018 Chevrolet Spark, when trying with 3A Pro appears on the vehicle screen that connects a compatible device and previously I had the 2nd and worked very well.
mikk_viidul I had the same! You should delete every update from the andorid auto app, clear cache, than update it in the playstore. Also reset everything regarding andorid auto on the car. After that it should be OK.
Kriszti_nHeged_s That didn’t fix the issue. No matter what I try, Android Auto still won’t work. Pls fix
@“Kriszti_nheged_s”#P157650 I already did, it doesn’t work
