USB Device & File Transfer Problems

I recently purchased nothing phone 2 and tried to backup my data by connection to USB to my PC, It doesn't show in This PC Section any storage connected. I have enabled USB Debugging and From USB Option enable File Transfer also still I am not able to connect but if i Select PTP from USB Options it work fine but it is only for Picture Sharing. I need File Transfer option to work with my PC. I have tried installing multiple Android USB driver hoping it will work but sadly no. This is very bad experience with simple things need to struggle lot. Any one have solution for this or this is a Bug in Nothing Phone 2.

What you need to do then is just connect your phone to a pc with a cable, then if you’re not getting a prompt to choose the “file transfer”, go to settings, search for “usb preferences ” and select it there. If the options are unavailable, it’s likely you have a damaged cable.

BhattRitesh_Lt1Q1WGHpe please explain all the steps you take. Only plugging it in is not enough. Maybe even a recording would help.

Option 2: Move files with a USB cable

Windows computer

Unlock your device.
With a USB cable, connect your device to your computer.
On your device, tap the “Charging this device via USB” notification.
Under “Use USB for,” select File Transfer.
A file transfer window will open on your computer. Use it to drag files.
When you’re done, eject your device from Windows.
Unplug the USB cable.

Make sure to unlock your phone before accessing the phone from pc.

Hi,

Although I have USB Debugging activated I cannot get my N2a to link to Android File Transfer? When connecting direct to the USBc port of the iMac (latest OS) the phone neither charges nor is recognised as being connected. The USB Preferences screen on the N2a shows that it is controlled by “Connected Device” (the iMac?) and will not allow me to switch to “This Device” (message shows “Couldn’t switch”). When using a third party USBa to USBc cable it charges but does not register with Android File Transfer and the USB Preferences screen shows that it is controlled by “This Device” - the complete opposite way around when using the supplied cable!

For now, I can’t transfer any music to my phone which is a big deal for me. Any suggestions please???

…by the way, my Samsung phone works flawlessly with either cable and either connection method.

Ant_nioRocha I also had an “acer” device, but I don’t have such a product. I removed it and connected the phone again, Windows recognized the device, installed the necessary drivers and the file transfer works. that was a good tip, thanks 🙂

Remi F yes I tried and it still does not work . Right now I have figured out the issue . You have to first connect the card reader and then put the memory card for it to work

The worst thing about file transfers is the speed which is limited by the USB 2 on the phone 2 and even though quick share does a great job of transferring small files it gets useless when shring large files it could be better if the phone can access the files via smb server like every other phone

Since many other file explorer which could connect to smb servers had a history of getting banned it just doesn’t seems right to install them and the worst part is Google’s file explorer doesn’t even have connect to smb in it’s options

I can’t get it to work in any way, I have installed a thousand Samsung, Android, ADB drivers… I have USB debugging and OTG enhancement enabled and still my computer does not detect the phone. How can something so simple and basic work so badly???

I am delighted with the Nothing Phone 2 but this is completely ruining the experience for me, just as it also does not allow usb internet sharing to be activated (I suppose for the same reason that Windows Explorer does not detect it)

Very bad of anyone not to pay attention to this. From their support they only tell you to activate debugging and reinstall the drivers… but how am I going to reinstall them if my phone doesn’t even recognize me!! Anyway… it makes me want to sell it and go back to Xiaomi because at least the basic things work as they should.

now i fixed the problem i will tell you the steps

goto device manager in your computer and there you will find android in first item and uninstall the drive the problem will solved

I have the same problem..used to transfer files before the new update. Now no device is recognised by my PC… I can connect my old phone and transfer.. problem is with Nothing 2

hellosah Its a driver issue. Install Google USB Drivers and it should work well. @Mr Steel you can mark this resolved to avoid duplicate queries imo.
