Could you be the next Nothing Community Board Observer?
The Community Board Observer (CBO) role was created to ensure that our community is represented at the highest level within Nothing. Now entering its fifth year, the Observer’s responsibilities are to monitor sentiment, engage with the community across our platforms and to help us bridge the gap between company and community. The CBO role is always held by someone just like you: a community member.
Every year, we open up applications so any of our members can apply to become the next CBO. Then, when applications close, we hold an election, which allows our members to vote for their favourite shortlisted candidate. The person with the most votes gets the role! 🗳️
@adbo has been representing you all for the past 12 months, attending quarterly Board meetings with Nothing’s senior leadership team and board members. He also interviewed Nothing staff members such as Selim Benayat and Heru Prasetyo, attended the Phone (3) launch event in London, and brought all of your feedback, suggestions and projects to the Board. Since Adam has now reached the end of his tenure as CBO, we’ll be taking applications for the 2026 CBO very soon. On behalf of the whole Nothing team, we’d like to thank Adam for all his hard work this year!

So, who’s ready to take on this prestigious position for 2026? Read on for all the information. Plus, you can drop any questions you have below this thread, and we’ll give you our best answers!
What are the CBO’s duties?
Proactively bridge the gap between the Nothing brand and the community. This could include engaging with Nothing’s software and product teams to share community feedback, or opening up discussions with the community to gain deeper insights.
Be active, approachable and recognisable, engaging with members across all our online community platforms, social media, and in-person events where possible.
Be available as a community spokesperson; representing the community voice at events, monthly internal company-wide meetings and video shoots as required.
Attend quarterly Board meetings. This involves preparing meeting notes a couple of weeks in advance, and presenting community sentiment towards products, launches, and everything else over the previous quarter, to Nothing’s Board of Directors.
After each board meeting, the CBO will then record a video and write a post to inform community members about the topics they raised in the meeting, and what responses they received from the Board.
You should apply if:
You are an active member of the Nothing Community.
You have a good level of spoken and written English.
You are comfortable with presenting, both online and in-person.
You can commit to attending four Board meetings across 2026 - these are likely to take place towards the end of January, April, July, and October. Exact dates and times will be made available to you ahead of time.
You are willing to travel for Board meetings (expenses paid). If you are based far away from the Board meeting location, you can attend Board meetings virtually, but we will endeavour to arrange a trip to our London office at least once during your time as CBO.
You are a great communicator, diplomatic and balanced, and enjoy creating content.
You are a team player, and enjoy collaboration. You will be working with the community team, the brand team, and other team members at Nothing, including our community moderators.
You care about the Nothing community, and are committed to elevating the community’s voice to bring them closer to Nothing.
You are over 18 years old and willing to sign an NDA. The CBO gets privileged insight into the most exciting things happening backstage, so commitment to secrecy is key.
The application process:
Applications are now open via this Google Form
We encourage you to take some time to think about your answers and draft them before submitting your application.
Applications will close on 24th November 10am GMT.
The Nothing team will then review each application, and invite shortlisted candidates to a 30 minute interview with a member of Nothing’s leadership team. These interviews will take place between 1st - 4th December.
Successful candidates will be put forward for community voting, which will take place here on nothing.community. They will need to record a 1 minute video and a 200 word statement, to help the community decide who to vote for. Voting will be open for 1 week.
Once the voting period is over, the candidate with the most votes will become the next Community Board Observer! 🤝
An individual member can occupy this role for up to 3 years consecutively, however, they must apply and be elected according to the process outlined above each year.
Please keep in mind that this position is not a full time job. It is a voluntary role for those looking to raise the voice of our community. It gives you the chance to represent our members, engage with our leadership team and help bridge the gap between company and community.
Think you have what it takes? Check back on this post on 7th November at 10am GMT for the link to the application form. If you have specific questions you’d like @adbo to answer about his time as CBO, drop them down below ⬇️
