AOD ruined after Nothing 4.0 in Phone 3

After the latest update, the Always On Display for the Glyph matrix turns on only when I flip the phone. And not while using the phone or when i keep it standing, turned other way. Why would u forcefully remove it, when u r upgrading or changing an existing setting, you should atleast give me an option or control button to go back to the old ways right? I get turning it off inside a pocket, but turning it off completely unless u flip the phone… that's nonsense. U don't knw how I was using it or for what purpose i used it right? And what did you achieve… the battery was already good .. i had no complains.. it mildly lit and i still got people looking at my phone when I using the phone or i didn't need to open the screen to see the time, just take the phone out from pocket . … I knew the time… like a watch… The sole reason I got this phone is ruined now… There is no edge factor now, no one will identify this phone as Nothing 3 anymore… you turned mine into an ordinary phone… thanks

prijithpillai Yeah, I find that very sad too. I used to always look at my clock that way and put funny things on it.

I already reported it as feedback so if you want you can do the same, perhaps we can change something with it!

Can’t be too hard to patch in an actual always on toggle somewhere with the next few updates.

I prefer it now, in fact I didn’t use it before. I don’t trust leaving the LEDs on all the time.

Now it’s more dynamic.

However, it would be enough to give users a choice of what to do without eliminating one of the two functions.

Yes… the choice, that’s what I am asking too… plus we have this bed time schedule for Glyph… so usually during nights the Glyph Matrix will off

For some unknown reason, it seems that with the new Android update, the Glyph Matrix toys’ always-on mode now only works when the phone is face-down. Which, if you ask me, isn’t exactly “always-on”, is it?

I understand that there may have been battery or performance considerations made, but if that is the case, users should be given the choice between “always-on” or “always-on (when filpped)”. Right now, it feels like Nothing took a feature away from users for no reason.

It also feels like Nothing shooting themselves in the foot from a marketing standpoint. Whenever people have asked me what my phone is, it’s been because they saw something interesting on the Glyph Matrix and wanted to know more. This sort of word-of-mouth is super important for a brand like Nothing, surely.

Anyway, please bring it back, Nothing! Cheers.

I can only suggest submitting feedback via the official channel using your phone:

Settings -> System -> Feedback -> tap that little feedback icon and fill out the form

This way the feedback gets logged and processed by Nothing’s customer service.

I think it’s a shame that since the update it’s no longer possible to keep the Glyph Matrix always on.

Who came up with the idea to limit it like this? I don’t care if the battery life suffers. I just want it to stay on all the time, but unfortunately that hasn’t been possible since the update.

I’m asking for support and help. Thank You!

Thank you very much for your message and your feedback. We fully understand that you would have liked to keep the Glyph Matrix permanently enabled and that the current limitation is frustrating for you.

With Nothing OS 4.0, we have simplified the activation method for Glyph Toys — they now start via Flip to Glyph to ensure more consistent and reliable triggering. As part of this, the always-on option has been temporarily removed.

However, we would like to inform you that in upcoming updates we will restore the ability to use Glyph Toys without an automatic timeout, enabling a true always-on experience again.

I feel the same way. It pisses me off. That’s what the matrix is for, to use it, to express myself constantly. Why do I need something that’s almost always off?

Coldpaw There’s no use giving feedback. Nothing team will do nothing with it.

I’m on Phone (2) beta and I’ve sent feedback many times — same result every time: clear cache, restart, reset.

Still no bug-fix update and the issues keep getting worse.

Oml I thought that was just with my glyph beat community app it’s all of them that’s such a bummer it always just turns off after 3 minutes and I have the stay on for 10
