User Summary:
Experienced OS 4.0 stable after using 4.0 beta (~50 days of laggy performance).
Stable version is smoother than beta, but several issues remain unresolved.
Some features are minor, not useful, or already present on other Android phones.
---
1. General Feedback on Feedback
I will not use the Settings → Feedback option, because during the beta I sent too many reports. All I got were copy-paste replies, no meaningful updates for 50+ days, and some complaints were closed without resolution. This made the beta experience extremely frustrating.
---
2. New Features
Hiding apps: Works, but already available in earlier Android versions.
App drawer search scope: Still laggy and slow; no improvement.
Widget size options: Good and smooth.
2×2 Quick Settings tiles: Works well, no issues.
Pop-up view: Works well, smooth multitasking.
App optimisation: No noticeable improvement over OS 3.2.
---
3. Essential Innovations
Playground (Alpha): Still in Alpha; app creation stuck in queue; unusable.
Essential Apps (Alpha): Some helpful widgets and Stretch camera preset; partially useful.
Essential Space: Not implemented properly. Despite claims of “no essential key → no essential space,” it seems like it could have been done but wasn’t.
---
4. Visual Enhancements
Redesigned icons: Clean, minor improvement; app search lag persists.
Status bar icons: Look good.
Lock-screen password blur: Works well; new for Nothing phones.
Lock-screen clock faces: One bold style good; other not useful. Using third-party depth wallpaper.
Extra dark mode: Working well.
Improved transitions: Much smoother than 4.0 beta.
---
5. Glyph Interface
Flip to Glyph: Not checked, not useful.
Glyph progress notifications: Not checked, not useful.
---
6. Camera Enhancements
Camera performance: No improvement; still very poor. Processing images makes them worse.
Presets & Filters: Some filters okay pre-processing; final results worse.
Motion Photos: Works, but video recording lags.
Watermarks / artistic frames: Unnecessary.
Camera UI: Okay, but overall experience is poor.
---
7. Other Missing / Expected Features
Volume control haptic feedback: Mentioned in some phones, not found in mine.
Notification tiles: Too big; when reading or watching videos, they cover content. Smaller tiles (like iOS “island style”) would be better.

Overall Feedback
1. Stable version is smoother than beta — positive.
2. Many features are minor or already available on other phones.
3. App search lag needs urgent improvement.
4. Camera quality and processing remain unacceptable.
5. Essential Apps and Playground Alpha are promising but largely unusable.
6. Visual refinements are good.
7. Glyph interface features are underutilized.
8. Feedback mechanism during beta was ineffective; past complaints were ignored or closed without resolution.
9. Notification tiles are too big; need smaller / less obstructive layout.
10. Some expected features (volume haptic feedback, essential space) are missing or poorly implemented.
After 50 days of beta lag, countless copy-paste replies, and unresolved complaints, I finally get a “stable” update — only to realize my camera is still the worst part of the phone, some features are missing, and notification tiles are practically shouting at me. It’s impressive how a phone can look good on paper but still keep you busy fixing what should have worked months ago.
