Nothing OS 4.0 AppServices Bloatware Installer

I just installed Nothing OS 4.0 a few hours ago on my CMF Phone 2 Pro. While I was happy with the UI-changes and features compared to Nothing OS 3.0, I noticed that there was this system app called "AppServices". I only noticed it because of a notification that suddenly appeared while I was using my phone. While I appreicate the fact that the controversial "Lock Glimpse" feature is disabled by default, I'm disappointed that the inclusion of this new app wasn't even disclosed in the update's changelog.

Just checked the CMF Phone 1 I gave to my dad and found that the “AppServices” bloatware installer is also there.

I can’t find in apps list!

Can you explain how to search for it in settings?

@JP that’s a sad thing. We were not informed about this hidden bloatwares upfront.

This is something can’t be justified. I was a fan of Nothing still am but this step is not good from them.

same thing with cmf 2 pro. 4.0 update they added bloat named appservices. you can disable from app settings

razzishu com.aura.oobe.solutions i researched on this app that’s constantly trying to install random apps on CMF phones the closest thing I found was it was very similar to samsungs appcloud which does the same thing the thing is it also has a lot of trackers running in the background that doesn’t ask your permission I recommend you to uninstall it but I’m struggling with it too right now it’s disabled but to remove i had to either root or debug it through adb

krizxjr I believe that this is only for CMF devices and not Nothing Phones (except 3a Lite), as the CMF Phones and the 3a Lite make such a loss when they are sold, that Nothing needs to make money back from your purchase.

I have always praised Nothing for its minimalism, for its clean UI. I supported them on look glimpse decision it is disabled by default.

All the crazy upgrade like other UIs don’t bother much about that untill I feel betrayed by this action this bloatware appservices they have included.😔

If you say about this upfront like the lock glimpse then it could be understandable

But hiding things this is not the Nothing I knew.

May be they are pushing this in CMF brand only.

Not in the Nothing Original series (the premium ones).

But what about those people who can’t afford a premium one and bought a CMF one for the clean OS exp?

I don’t know this is not right what I feel as a phone 2 pro owner.

PrimeAyan That’s what I have been yelling from the beginning, if you don’t stand against the bad things in the beginning, you will continue to get worse things along the way .

@ “PrimeAyan”#p252038 Yes…this app recommendations pop up is not mentioned in any change logs… I didn’t got this popup…. But many users got this… and it didn’t even let user exit it without installing anything… that’s very bad… i suggest you to disable/force stop and disable notifications for that app…

SaschaMelzer check if you have this app on your device or not.. go to setting>apps>show all apps > open menu from upper right corner and tap show system and check for ‘app services’

JP it didn’t pop up while installing but in notification it was there with other notifications. So I clicked and it takes to the bloatware installer.

Nyway what device you have pro series ?

I read you can fully uninstall this bloatware service with ADB or at least disable it.

Still a very disappointing move by Nothing.

But even we yell or anything they are a company they will take the feedback and do what they want to do.

If they want to make CMF their bloatware pushing devices then it’s sad for users like us who can’t go for a more premium phones for complete clean OS.

But hey, it still not any world ending thing it still can be disabled. I hope they won’t push any further things like this. In day to day life it won’t cause any harm but still they should be transparent about this.

JP removed it ! It is system app

So you need to root your device to do that.

I don’t know much about side loading and all and don’t want to break the security of the device.

So for now just disabled it.

AbiS_MjZL72iTVk It is only the extremely cheap budget models such as CMF Phone 1 and Phone 2 Pro, 3a Lite that will get losses because they are budget phones at an extremely low price.
