Hallo community,
as we all know Nothing phone (1) and (2) are dual sim phones.
If you ever used two sim cards you might be unsatisfied about the way Android (stock) poorly supports dual sim phones and is missing a lot of features.

I have a personal sim and a work sim in my phone (1) and there are a couple of things missing in Android’s dual sim management that bug me a lot:
1) i’d like to manually switch my work sim on and off without going through a lot of steps in the settings
2) i’d like to have my work sim switch on and off automatically at certain hours just like work apps do

If i understood correctly this cannot be fixed by third party apps so the only way to have a better dual sim management is to have this features directly integrated in the OS.

Am i the only one with this kind of needs?
Am i the only one that thinks this could sit well with Nothing’s vision about giving the user a device that suits his needs and work just like expected?

No, you are definitely not the only one asking for these useful features.

I just received my Nothing (2) and although I am quite enthusiastic about the phone, its looks and its features, this is a sort of a let down to me too. I.e. the availability of dual ringtones for dual sim set ups should not even be an issue, for as far as I am concerned, as I had this on previous phones dating back five years and four Android versions ago.

It’s even worse. The other sim stays offline while you are using the other sim for phone calls. So if anyone calls you he hears that you are out of range. This is didapointing. My 5 years old Huawei worked like charm in this matter.

corvonero Just because you may not have any more comments in support of you does not mean others aren’t on your side.

I’ve post back in January 2024 as a feedback in their suggestions and few other pointers.

I’ve always at least 2 number’s on one device and then dual or tri sims became available. Like you a basic options have been left out for dual sim management. Honor, Huawei, Samsung and some low end Android devices I’m was able bto do just this. As Its logical why leave this function out Nothing?

I suggest at least sending in some feedback via the feedback link with the phone. The more of us that do so at some point they’ll pick up on this.

If a company like ‘Nothing’ could make this a standout feature then it could capture some serious market share. I would like to see (and I’m sure there will be other features that I am missing here):

    1. Different ring and alert tones for each Sim
    2. The ability to switch off a Sim at a certain time each day and for it to automatically switch back on a certain time (Out-of-hours).
    3. Holiday mode.
    4. Exception rule, that if a certain person calls it will ignore the ‘Out-of hours’ mode and ring the phone. This would be handy if you were on call or the CEO needs to get hold of you out of hours.
    5. Allocate a certain Glyph pattern so that you know if a work call is coming in when phone is screen down.

The implementation would need to be carefully thought about in order to make the management straightforward with quick settings accessible from the Home Screen or by swiping down. Once the feature is activated you would not expect to keep going though a myriad of settings options.

    Same for me!

Please add this “ SPECIAL FEATURE” that 5 years old android phones have in standard OS

I just bought my Nothing Phone 2. This have many nice features, but dual SIM did not work at all as I like it. Inforrainment system from my car says calls fault. Maybe root cause is Dual SIM.
