The Community Edition Project: Hardware Design Winners

**Last month, we announced the Community Edition Project. An industry-first co-creation project that invites our community to design the ultimate version of Phone (2a) alongside the team at Nothing.** We are very excited to announce [Kenta](https://nothing.community/u/Akasaki_Vanhuyse) and [Astrid](https://nothing.community/u/AstridVanhuyse) as our Stage 1: Hardware Design winners! Kenta and Astrid, who operate [a creative studio together](https://www.instagram.com/akasaki_vanhuyse/), collaborated to create their concept: ***Phosphorescence***. > *Using green-tinted phosphorescent material finishes, elements of the back of the phone emit a soft glow in the dark. This feature is purely analogue, requiring no power source, and can last for hours before gradually fading until it recharges by daylight. It is widely used in the watch industry. Throughout the journey, **their concept may go through several design iterations** - so watch this space for updates. To arrive at the winning concept, our internal jury, the Industrial Design Team, shortlisted entries based on their design merit and storytelling. Congratulations Astrid and Kenta, this design is awesome, and glad you guys won. There were a lot of amazing submissions for this contest. Told my self I wouldn’t buy another 2a. But I just may have to buy this one as well. (Also a phone 3).

By the way, the concept is really great, can be forwarded to more nothing phones like phone 3

The Nothing phone 2a 5g community edition will be the best all rounder in 25k segment

Even though I don’t like glow in the dark stuff and I’m more than happy with my white phone 2a I really have to say this looks very cool. I might try to design a wallpaper for the phone. Not sure which style though

congratulation to both winners👾 as an architecture student it was nice to see you guys achieving this. I really liked some of the inspiration sources and the colorway that is close to Dieter Rams radio.

and thanks to Nothing for providing this whole experience! though i’m looking forward for next stages, i hope you do another hardware design challenge tbh. or at least maybe other companies learn to be more open!
