Just got mine today and realized there was a static/hissing/some high pitched sound coming from only the left bud. I’ve reset it twice but the solution was temporary as after while the sound comes back. I have also updated the firmware but it is worth noting that I heard the noise even before updating. Is this happening to everyone or should I just go get it replaced?

    Hey 👋

Do you have high quality audio codec enabled? I experienced something similar and it was due to this, although it’s since been rectified.

Since you’ve tried resetting them and this hasn’t resolved the issue, I recommend reaching out to the support team, they should be able to help further.

Derren Hi!! I did not have LDAC or LHDC enabled, only AAC. I did find out however that switching to LDAC and then back to AAC makes the problem go away. I don’t know if it’s a permanent fix or not tho..

May I ask how did you rectify the issue on your end?

ExpressTrain I believe for me it was a similar troubleshooting method, enabling and disabling LHDC would rectify the problem for a short amount of time, then eventually an update patched it.

If it keeps happening, be sure to reach out to the support team or provide feedback via the Nothing X app.

ExpressTrain Did you happen to find a permanent fix? I have the exact same issue with my Ear (2024), there’s a high pitched quiet noise that’s only coming from the left earbud, tried resetting them, nothing worked, though I noticed after I toggle the personal sound profile on or off, the noise would stop but it would come back after 5 seconds, so before I send them back, I want to know if it’s a software issue rather than a hardware defect.

Mystical Hey! I’m like 99% sure it’s software related. While not a permanent fix, I do find switching the audio codec to LDAC and then back to AAC solves the problem for a time (long enough that I don’t notice it when the buzzing comes back sometimes). I do this this fix every time the problem occurs. Hopefully we’ll get a permanent fix one day since we’re not alone : D Hope this helps!

ExpressTrain I see, I’m doing the same thing to get the noise away, I have contacted Nothing about this, they said some of the team members had this issue, so we’re definitely not alone, though at the current rate of firmware update releases, we could wait up quite long for a fix. Thanks for your reply

Hi, im a bit late in this topic but i ordered a new pair of nothing buds 2024 and I found the same noise that ur talking about in my left bud. Is this still a firmware issue? do i have to send them back to receive a replacement or its an unfixable issue and im forced to buy another pair of earbuds?

leonardo_dalessio2006 Hey there, yeah I stuck with it for a few months and after a few firmware updates it still stuck so I just decided to use the warranty to replace them. Got a fresh pair and it doesnt have the static sound anymore.

ExpressTrain did you replace from amazon or from the official store? i’ve seen a lot of feedback about this issue and im afraid that I could replace them with a new pair just to have the same issue again.

leonardo_dalessio2006 i’m from Malaysia so Amazon isn’t exactly something we use here nor do we have an official store. However, I bought mine from a pretty big tech store in my country so I brought the original purchase invoice with me to the store and asked to claim the warranty and after about a 4 week wait I got a new pair. (They had to send it to the distributor or something to verify that something was wrong I think)

That said, I do understand your worry and to be honest, with tech nowadays it’s just becoming more and more complicated to QA everything and of course things just slip through the cracks. No doubt this is by no means cheap and I’m not going to let Nothing off, after all we paid for it at the end of the day we deserve to use it to its fullest. I’d suggest just switching to something else if it really does bug you that much. I think you can try Nothing’s support team? I’ve never tried but maybe you can give it a shot and see how it goes. Either way, best of luck!
