Als3ditec did you face any bugs?
Nothing OS 3.0 | Phone (2a) Open Beta
vlix3s tell them
Would it be possible to make it more configurable, eg have a classic mode. And/or have text descriptive
It seems no one is talking about what’s new with Nothing OS 3.0. Most users are discussing why the flagship Phone 2 hasn’t received the open beta before the mid-range Phone 2A. This situation highlights the frustration of Phone 2 users, and Nothing needs to acknowledge this mistake. Phone 2 users, keep raising your concerns!
Natalie what do you mean I’ll lose all of my data if I rollback?? If I wait for the full release and then update to it will i still lose all of my data???? Please clarify this.
JCPH thank you, I don’t get why people are so annoyed that they don’t get a beta version, that’s likely to have lots of bugs as well
KelvinEdimeh where you created it ?
The update is great! The phone looks incredible!
ArshSinghBhushan man you dont lose data if its official OTA update. did you lose data when you upgraded to android 14? no right
Nothing phone 2a plus is upgraded phone nothing phone 2a but why late update I don’t know so i am confused why i buy nothing phone 2a plus
Everything fine… but we need battery health and percentage like on iOS
MihneaPerianu keep licking boots. lmao pathetic
RavishKumar They releasing it to 2a as it’s the most sold and they’ll be able to find bugs faster that’s the reason nothing like discriminating see 2a plus because it wasn’t sold much it’s getting the beta later they want to release it to get more data and 2 will get a stabler version
Not a huge fan of the Open Beta release dates, as it favored Phone (2a) over Phone (1) & Phone (2) users.
Let’s get some re-prioritization efforts going to get Phone (½) on open Beta at the same time.
This is not a community, but a sandbox of offended children)
I feel kinda shafted with the phone 2 by now…. It’s like I bought the cheapo version of the flagsship and the flagship is getting the updates quicker, BUT ITS THE OTHER WAY ROUND!
To all those who say Phone 2a’s early update means fewer bugs for Phone 2, you’re mistaken. Only bugs that aren’t tied to the hardware will be fixed for all the phones (and even that isn’t necessarily true as the codebase for both the OS would be different). Hardware-specific issues, like fingerprint scanner problems, won’t be resolved until tested on Phone 2.
Justifying beta version for a mid-range device over a flagship is flawed. Imagine buying a $1000+ Samsung S24 Ultra only to find its AI features are first shipped to the cheaper S24 FE. That’s how Phone 2 owners feel. We paid more only to wait longer. I even paid for the highest end Phone 2 and still got treated like this.
As an Android developer, I test multiple apps daily. I even tested Google’s Android 15 Developer Preview back in February and yet I have to wait to try the OS that I use daily.
Other companies handle updates differently. Samsung releases betas (and stable versions) for entire series simultaneously. If you have an S24 or S24 Plus, you get the update at the same time as the Ultra. Nothing should also follow suit.
Updating each phone individually creates delays. Phone 2a’s early update means it’s likely to get the stable version first, and so on. As more devices are released, this cycle will continue, causing further delays.
Nothing’s team is also at fault here. While building AOSP from scratch takes time, updating all devices in a series simultaneously would avoid discrimination. Difference in features between devices is also a major issue.
If they can’t keep up with updates, they should hire more developers. I’ve been looking at Nothing’s careers page for months but haven’t seen relevant job openings.
And finally let’s please stop arguing. Let Phone 2a users enjoy their update, while others wait patiently.
(Note: I’m not trying to be rude towards anyone but this is just what I think about the current update situation.)
