KarthikNanda I would STRONGLY advise you to buy the International version from Singapore.

One never knows when problems could occur which would require a factory reset.

And with the Indian version, a factory reset done while you’re in Singapore would render the phone inoperable & would require you to come back to India & activate it using an Indian sim, on an Indian network.

Don’t take the risk.

By reset do you guys mean only factory reset or just a normal reset in general.

DelvinVithayathil reset meaning a factory reset, restarting the phone or applying updates should not have any effect.

Derren In case if customer did factory reset as it is necessary due to bugs occuring after android 14 update, then it that case unlock is possible if yes then how much time it will take?
And Nothing should release an update to fix this lock sim problem as I am having international roaming but phone 2 need internet data to active the phone this is really bad as customer are not buying contract phone it should be unlocked phone, nothing just want client to use buggy software experience as they are locked in this process.

SanketChindarkar Any factory reset, even if its due to bugs, will require you to go through the unlock process again. If you have any further concerns i would recommend getting in touch with support, they will be able to assist further.

tony_k No, there isn’t that kind of system as is prevalent in the US.

The NP2 comes unlocked but the Indian version can be activated ONLY with an Indian sim, on an Indian network.

Peculiar, one can’t fathom the reasoning behind this move by N.

I am trying to contact with support but my question is that Will be phone unlocked after that if person is on international roaming ? as for now its not unlocking

SanketChindarkar as detailed above the unlock procedure requires an India network SIM (non-roaming) you won’t be able to complete this process while roaming internationally.

Support may be able to assist you with this, and may be able to provide an unlock solution.

Derren Thank you Derren but i think nothing making extremely bad user experience, I have been waiting for support to replay me but now its more than 28 hours still no solution will never recomand nothing phone 2 to anyone
Carl want to make apple kind of eco system, apple do not lock the phone with this kind of stupid things like nothing doing

Gun_Put that’s odd. Is it regulatory? Could be a law somewhere that if a phone is sold locally. It takes more work for nothing to maintain several versions of the phone so has to be a reason.

i notified Nothing support and got resolution in less than 2 hours. They remotely got it activated while I was in Qatar.

Greetings,

Nothing OS: 2.0.XX

I bought a Phone(2) in India and brought it UK. It was working fine.

I performed a factory reset on the phone, it stopped at activation page and won’t work even though I had had an India sim with international roaming pack.

Then, I mailed nothing India support + nothing UK support.

Nothing India Replied: Bring the phone to India to activate it.

Nothing UK Replied: They can support with the issue . They resolved it within couple of hours, restarted the phone and it was activated .

My thoughts:

Its bit painful when someone has to go through this in the first place.
If there was a support page where we can send the details, track it and get it resolved help us being much more confident.
What if nothing doesn’t have a support in the county? still they can do it with a help of point 2 proving a dropdown for county selection.

I am happy now and I am using phone 2 for past 4 months without any issue, upgraded to Nothing OS 2.5.1, no issues while updating.

Hi Akku,

I rang Nothing UK Support on the toll-free number: (+44) 800 376 88 88.
Service Hour: 24 hours, 7 days a week.

They requested few details the IMEI, Name.
Problem statement.
Requested me to wait for an hour or two to allow them process the exception request remotely and then restart the device. I restarted after two hours.
In the activation page, I had my India sim and UK sim with valid roaming pack in India sim (airtel) then I pressed verify. It proceeded to the next setup screen.

Magicdesign Why should that be a factor in locking the phone?

Its not as if consumers are going to book flights to India to save a few dollars/euros!

Oneplus also prices it’s phones aggressively in India but it doesn’t lock the phones the way N has.
