I guess the R&D for the next phone series would have already begun so what can we expect or what do we expect to see in the 3rd generation of the smartphone. Share your thoughts.
Nothing Phone (3) Expectations
I would like the next Nothing Phone 3 series to have a telephoto camera with a zoom as small as possible but still there, a battery of at least 5000 mA, a SD processor in the top performance version (8 gen 2…3) and/or another in the economy version (7 gen 3…4) and then last but not least a 3.5 mm audio jack. I prefer listening to hifi quality headphones directly from my phone.
I would like cooler patterns on the glyph lights

another 6.1″-6.4″ inch screen model, but probably not gonna happen.
Dear community, if you want a good camera, buy a separate device called a camera.
I’m waiting in this world for a phone not for tiktokers. I want the smartphone not to be a shovel, but to be small and neat, without any bulges in the camera area.
I love this phone so much, but I do not understand how come it’s 599 USD but 1000 CAD, 599USD= 1000CAD? I live in Canada and I’m so sad knowing the price huge difference in here so I won’t get one . Pls fix the price when phone 3 come out thank you .

There are basic things missing in nothing 2 in such a premium price.Probably that’s the reason nothing 2 is flop compare to nothing 1. How dolby Atmos is missing in speaker which is very basic which is given by very low cost smartphone.??? If cost is matter then reduce making cost from glymp light which is not useful at all. Camera performance is also below average. Only software and apple like look is not going to attact user anymore. I hope nothing team / carl pei will look into these basic features which everyone expect from such a premium cost phone.
If Nothing short out this ,anyone will not be able to beat nothing.
- Software glitch
- Camera
- Dolby Atmos speaker
- Charger should be given as bundle as phone cost is huge .If charger is not given then reduce price which would be competitive.
Just look into this nothing team.Else you will be good for nothing.
I would like to a series of different things added to Phone 3 to make it more in line with the competition.
I think the number one thing is a 50MP telephoto camera as I personally care more about a 3X zoom than an ultrawide camera, but I would like to have the option of choosing all three in case any scenario arises where I need them individually. In terms of glyph design, I think a design closer to phone one for the cameras paired with a semicircle around the third lens would look best if Phone 3 took a iPhone Pro style approach to its camera design. However I also think that a raindrop style triple camera setup would look great too. Essentially what we have currently with one camera directly under making three. I do understand that this would be much more difficult with the current glyph language that the phone’s adopt though as there’s no space to put it in this particular layout unless you move everything down or split the glyphs up even more but it’s definitely doable. I think both layouts look great. They should also work on their algorithm a little bit more. It’s gotten a lot better with Phone 2, but it could be exceptional with Phone 3!
I would also like to see a mute switch similar to the way Apple used to do it before incorporating the action button. Since NothingOS now has In action button in the form of double clicking the power button to do different tasks, I would love to see a classic mute switch but maybe one that’s done in a different fashion. Maybe a different shape such as circular that slides downwards instead of left and right like Apple did it. This would be positioned perfectly above the power button where our thumb rests. It’s a future I’ve always wanted to see on Android phones other than OnePlus and the occasional Vivo device.
I would also like to see more beefed up specs. I don’t mind nothing’s current philosophy of picking a 1-year-old tried and proven top of the line chipset that’s both powerful and efficient, therefore I wouldn’t mind seeing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 paired with a 5,000 mAh battery, capable of 65W fast charging to pair with the new CMF GAN Charger, and a 1080p 144 Hz display capable of producing brightness levels of up to 2000-2500 nits. 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is perfect again and I wouldn’t want to see pricing go any higher than 699 dollars USD, with the top model being 799 Dollars USD. I think nothing should hit a price wall soon, as I don’t think I would spend more than 900 tops even if it used an 8 Gen 3. I would much rather have nothing to do as much as they can with $799 for Phone 4 onwards and keep the price point consistent at all times unless they launch a Pro model that has slightly beefed up specs.
Other than that though I think I just want to see even more of their design language seep into Nothing OS. I’d like to see that gallery app that they’re making as well as even more apps such as a calendar or calculator replace Google’s, with even more widgets to really flesh out the OS. I love their black / white on red design language.
Overall I’m really excited to see what Phone 3 has to offer and can’t wait to purchase it this coming summer!
Ip68
possibly two versions. A 6.1 inch budget version with a midrange processor retailing around $400, and a larger 6.7 inch version with snapdragon 8 gen 2 for$ 700
santanu_duttag If you don’t need glyphs, why do you even need this phone? Get another one for the same price. Have I solved your problem?
I want to see an eSIM option, such a time/money saver when roaming. Also I’d like to see more color options and one of them is the true black color like we had with Phone (1).
- (Edited)
For me i would like to see the following things:
- More colour options, nothing too vibrant, just some subtle premium shades
- Snapdragon 8 gen 2 or gen 3, same RAM configurations are fine
- Improved cameras (especially low light performance)
- Possibly a third camera but only if utilized properly, i would rather not have it if it doesnt serve a purpose
- Continue to build out the OS, so far the team has made amazing strides and at a time where hardware upgrades are incremental it would be great to see continued improvement, thats where most people will notice the difference
- Extended glyph features, its been great to see some extra features in Phone (2) and it was a great way to test the waters. Theres no need to make it overly complex but im sure we could see some great integrations.
Dream features (but unlikely)
- Action button is cool, i hate to copy others but the functionality is amazing and really beneficial
- Expandable storage
- I made a concept once about adding functionality to the rear of the phone, perhaps some kind of low res or even e ink display for basic functionality and notifications, media controls etc
Lots of specs being mentioned here, would love to hear some new and original ideas about what a smartphone can or should do
A lot to be expected,
Below are main to be included at-least :
- A SD Performance Grade (SD 8 Gen 3) Chip-set with CA network connectivity (not a fan of 5G) but better connectivity, required with fast upload and download speeds and one more Mid Performance (SD 7 Gen XX) Series for better affordable.
- Clean and clutter free OS sometimes I feel the pixel is also making complex esp with with big notification bars and others kind. (Still using One Plus 6) for the clean OS I love it is so much customizable and clean.
- Fan of music and will listen offline music a lot so possible Hi Res Audio codec’s and Dolby Atmos enabled stereo speakers, Please bring back the head-phone jack , One plus 6 was the last phone to get head phone Jack
.
- Strong build to lasts long may be full aluminum casing or titanium casing with Good IP Rating.
- Extended support of OS and security patch(possible follow of Pixel timeline
).
- Gliph I/F is good but shouldn’t be distractive may be vanilla phones would be good. but I like the design language of nothing phones.
- Alert slider is really good(may be if is used defined that would be better) it is must and should have.
- Camera’s can be good enough to take the usual clarity pictures I don’t use much camera so not a priority.
- UFS 4.0 and LDPPRX RAM is must for swiftness.
- 2k High Resolution screen with 120 HZ for 6.7 inches Display.
- High Security Ultrasonic Finger Print for better enhanced security/Like Apple’s Face ID bio metrics simply superb works in dark as well (preferred) without touching the phone.
- Dual SIM (one Physical and one ESIM) capability.
- Need Good Wireless EarBuds that sync with Phone as well.
- music music music I love music so Di hard Fan of FM not sure it is really matters cuz can’t be afford premium Audio streaming services. and it is not so consistent. I see in Instagram the audio so much lound and clear but not in Spotify or other music platform.
Alert Slider
Dolby Atmos, balanced speakers with bass.
Telephoto Camera with at least 3x zoom.
2k resolution screen with 120hz
Minimum 65 watt fast charging
Keep the screen flat, maybe a little bit less bezel if possible.
More glyph functionality and colors.
Additional color option for device
AOD like Apple or better
Extra:
Headphone jack
Temperature or pulse sensor
AI software magic
Rob I have an idea make the power button a fingerprint sensor and when it senses a known finger for 2 seconds it opens the camera app or some other app according to what you set. Now you have added a new functionality to the power button.
- (design) SIM-card slot and volume buttons in one, like Yotaphone 2. Awesome solution.
- (software) Second space without visible signs of existence with the possibility of unlocking with another PIN code/finger/graphic key.
- (software) Graphic key.
