I have phone 2 and updated to OS 2.0.3.

When i go to hidden icons screen it directly reveals those icons. Where it should ask password or pin or biometric. It directly reveals hidden icons. So if someone has my phone and he swipes from app drawer he can directly see my hidden apps. Add authentication there

It also has another quirk, When you hide a app from app drawer it also removes all the shortcut links from the home screen too. Example, I hide Google sheets app. It also hid the sheet I had on my home screen which I use constantly. I don’t need the app, but I just need the shortcut

I have recently switched from realme to nothing phone 1, been loving the nothing os 2.0. However I feel there is a need for seperate pin/code for locked/hidden applications.

Currently with lock screen pin we can open locked applications if somebody notices our pin during unlock. The person can easily access the locked applications which can be a threat to privacy.

Use case: Consider the scenario which has seperate pins for your lock screen and locked applications, even of somebody notices your lock screen pin. You don’t need to worry about your privacy as you have different pins.

Yep that would be pretty cool ! Or fingerprint unlock mandatory and no pin

Exactly thing I have mentioned in some post. Switching from MiUi it feels that some essential features I am missing and it is one of them. Locked app should have a separate pin/password and the hidden apps must ask for some authentication method like fingerprint and password/pattern/pin for security. Otherwise no point of hiding this thing if someone can access it

☝️if someone goes to the Home screen settings and removes the hidden app icons then it will be visible to all.

So the hidden app drawer needs to have a privacy lock settings which should enable access only after a biometric or face ID verification. For now, it doesn’t even serve its purpose as now everyone knows about it. If a friend asks me to show him my Nothing phone 2, nothing stops him accessing the hidden app drawer without my consent. There should be a privacy lock to enable unlocking the phone but prevent certain apps from being accessed.

Also, the notifications from the hidden and/or locked apps should be configurable to show/hide content of notifications in the notification section. For eg. I locked the message app, but for message app notifications, i would like to see what the message is, in the notification itself. Even though the message app is a locked app. This should be configurable as per user preferences to show/hide notification content for locked apps.

Hidden Apps should have a lock/pin and notifications should not come from those apps unless you open the hidden apps section. I mean, having an app hidden and then getting a notification from it like an usual app isn’t ideal. Am I missing something or is this feature unavailable?

Hidden app can be seen swiping right on app drawer without any lock option. It is same for all nothing devices. If a person who knows about nothing os finds my phone unlocked, he/she can easily access my hidden apps. Hidden apps feature should be unique for each user like dialing a specific code on dialer to pop up hidden apps. This issue must be taken care of for better privacy.

HargovindGill - there is also the App Locker feature in Nothing OS already.

Then apps can be locked if the app gets closed, or the phone is locked and then unlocked. Each unlocking of the app needs your phones PIN or finger print. Search for “App Lock” in settings. This should be what you are looking for.

He appears to be asking about hiding apps behind a password, not just password protecting them.

Someone wanting to hide dating apps from their partner will want the apps in a separate drawer that requires a password to open. @HargovindGill is saying the hidden drawer on Nothing OS is not password protected, making it next to useless.

People have all sorts of reasons for wanting to hide apps. Could be that they don’t want others finding their crypto wallet, or seeing games like Pokémon Go! on their phone.

sean (1) u got me right bro…but my concern was for digital payments apps and banking apps in India
