OfficeRat I too have noticed illogical behaviour of the Dynamic refresh rate setting. For example even on a static page like the AOD the refresh rate remains at 120.
On another thread I read that the more you increase the brightness the more the refresh rate will drop.
I tried it out & sure enough, at 100% brightness, the refresh rate dropped to 1%. The more I decreased the brightness, the higher the refresh rate climbed.
LTPO panels are supposed to increase battery life by dropping the refresh rate dynamically depending on the Screen content.
But on my NP2 you have to jack up the screen brightness for the refresh rate to drop down!
How will that result in any battery saving?
This erratic behaviour of the LTPO maybe a software issue which N will have to fix or a hardware limitation - I’ve read that NP2 uses LTPO panels made by Visionox, a Chinese company while Apple OTOH uses panels from Samsung/LG.
Since I don’t play games on my phone, I’ve set the refresh rate to standard - 60hz - to conserve the battery, same as obtained on my previous phone, the Oneplus 5.
Progress? 😄
