Feature Request 35: Nothing’s own Communication Suite of Apps

Are Google’s Communication Suite of Apps good enough? -I doubt. There isn’t a month that Google Dialer and Messages are not riddled with some sort of bugs, be it battery draining issue or buttons disappearing after making a call to someone etc. and some controversial issue like Sending users data without permission.

I feel developing Nothing Dialer/Phone, Contacts and Messaging App with Nothing’s unique visual language would be a wise decision, just not to duplicate some Google Apps but to better the user experience.

Yes but I also appreciate what Carl P said - the apps are good (base Google works well)

But what I would have liked to have seen - in a similar vein - is the ability for my Nothing ID to be federated through to my Google. So when I first got my phone I expected to log in with Nothing ID first and not my Google. I know it’s Chicken & Egg because my Nothing ID is my Google ID but would like that sort of monogamous wall.

    Hope that makes sense.

I really wish to see the following apps in nothing design language:-

    1. File manager app
    2. Clock app
    3. Notes app

Which other apps would you like to see ?

Totally agree, I think the Samsung files and photos apps are really good, would be great to have similar for Nothing phone.

      I recommend:

For photos: Aves app, can’t reorder albums which isn’t good but other than that it’s good. Way ahead of google photos.

For files: File manager+ gives you proper control of your files, not restrictive like google files.

These are good options until Nothing create their own.

Ok, this might be a dumb idea, but I’ve been seeing many concept Nothing apps (dialer, gallery, clock) on this community page and I am really digging it. This, combined with the default Nothing Weather and Recorder apps has me wanting a similar aesthetic throughout the UI.

I have no expertise in making apps but can’t there be a ‘Nothing’ themed version of existing Google apps. To clarify, I’m not saying apps built by Nothing to replace default Google apps, rather Google apps themselves with a ‘Nothing’ skin on them.

I got this idea by looking at the default ‘Messaging’ app on Samsung devices. I might be wrong on the details, but flagship Samsung devices use a custom version on the ‘Google Messages’ app with ‘OneUI’ theme on top. So why not do something similar with ‘Nothing OS’?

Not sure if this has been discussed before on the community page. What are the possible challenges?

While the likes of Samsung and other brand’s with a pocket for budget spending Nothing is the new kid on the block and don’t have the resources like the other mobile brands. Then there comes the update of each app you’ll have to reskin those, plus more likely royalties to pay to Google.

It would be far better for Nothing or the community to build such apps for the Nothing brand in my view.

As a nothing user I would like to know when will nothing officially launch there own apps. I am eagerly waiting to use those apps.

As a nothing os user, i suggest there should be a seperate files for nothing files which allow acces to Android obb and data files with password protection for the users which make it secure and accessible to the users.

Merged 2 posts from Nothing Files.

          Hello Everyone,

I just got my first Nothing phone and I feel that some essential features are missing. Nothing is depending solely on Google for the Dialer and Photos and some other apps as well. I think an independent app would be better for the Photos/Gallery. I use Google Photos for backing up my important images only, using it often is unpleasing. As for the Dialer, Nothing can make a separate app, and create it with the Nothing UI and style. Using Google apps as the main apps make the phone generic and unpleasing to use.

Guys, Guys, Guys, what about a Nothing MUSIC PLAYER.

I think I’m one of the minority that still uses stored/downloaded music, the Nothing OS needs a music player.

adbo changed the title to Nothing's own Suite of Apps .
