Now that nothing has its smart cutout feature already in gallery ,I guess why not use it in lockscreen and Photos widget
Adding depth effect on lockscreen and Photos widget
- (Edited)
I think it would be cool. But there are a couple of BUTs.
First, we already have a blur effect when unlocking the device, which makes static wallpapers become come live. The depth effect should also animate the images. The image processing component (let’s call it Nothing Live Wallpaper) itself should be modular to enable individual effects as desired. (I’m not a software developer and could be wrong)
Also, what to do with lock screen widgets? Putting them on a upper layer of the front image would look weird. Lower layer will make them unusable. Disable the effect when adding widgets - why add the effect to the OS at all then?
From a user experience perspective, this effect may not fit very well into the os if it’s not implemented well enough. And from the development perspective, consider that it needs to be reworked from scratch (unless the Team has thought this step through and made the Nothing Wallpapers component/app ready for more effects to be added).
FXDD0 Hmm, I don’t think it’s necessary to consider the blur animation after unlocking.
There’s a slight delay between unlocking, the clock disappearing, and the blur animation starting. During that time, I believe it’s possible to secretly switch to a plain wallpaper without any issues.
As long as the replacement image looks exactly the same, there shouldn’t be any noticeable difference.
Also, the specification that ‘you can’t have depth effects on the wallpaper while a widget is placed on the lock screen’ was originally adopted by iOS, which first introduced the ‘depth effect on lock screen wallpapers.’
Personally, I don’t see this as a problem.
Whether or not Nothing decides to implement this is another matter entirely, though…
Yeah need that depth effect bro
AbhinavSaxena_lRbHCjO2cK that would be freaking great idea
