AanjeloSalgado Lol. I posted it on Reddit at the same time as here. But my post got merged with this post which just links to my Reddit post.

Given this is a beta product and there’s so many AI credit-based systems, it’s one thing to chop this up to bring a snafu in them not thinking anyone would reach a limit.

However, on the heels of the leaks insinuating that there will be a subscription tied to Essential Space, this is just damning and added fuel to the fire.

I’m a couple days away from my return window on my 3a Pro. It’s a solid device, but there are compromises for the price, of course. However, a compromise on a button that has no/limited functionality without a monthly fee to use? Nah, I’ll pass.

The least thing Nothing should’ve done would be pointing the limitation prior buying, but it’s nowhere mentioned on the product page, not even all the way down in the fine prints.

Curious how they will react to this, they made the Essential Space a key feature of the (3a) series, having a monthly limit without talking about it in advance, would be a real bad move.

UPDATE FROM THE REDDIT OP (ME): It started working again.

Was it a bug? Did they see the post and upped the quota? Did they see the post and remove the quota? Or was today the renewal date? Guess we’ll never know

AanjeloSalgado Welcome to the real world. This is how they earn. It’s all a game of PR. Nothing is no exception, no matter how much they claim they’re different from the rest of the brands. It’s a harsh truth, just accept it and don’t expect anything from Nothing. Or, fight Legally.

Do Nothing have a stance on refunds for the 3a series for this

Massive bait and switch and we’ll be left with a useless button if we don’t want to pay extra.

AanjeloSalgado It’s been encouraging to see so many people using Essential Space since the Phone (3a) Series launch. As a result, we’ve increased the initial usage cap to a level that will comfortably accommodate the vast majority of users. Essential Space is a new feature that we’re incredibly excited about, and we are focused on refining the experience based on user feedback.

Rob ⚡️ so whats with the limit then? will we have to pay for this feature in the future. will it have a separate free version and a paid version? will we be able to remap it to what we want?

Rob ⚡️ so you confirm there is a limit, can you please provide whare this limit was mentioned before in your documentation?

Rob ⚡️ can you tell us the monthly cap limit? since it says ‘monthly limit exceeded’ so I won’t overuse just in case, so I could just stay on the free processing zone every month every reset. Thanks, I’m genuinely asking this for my sanity

Rob ⚡️ Nothing 100% needs to make this button remappable and also have more transparency around this. I will not be buying a 3a Pro until this is sorted out. I appreciate you guys raising the cap, but that’s a bandaid over a more glaring problem. The lack of initial communication about this is and even BIGGER problem again. It shouldn’t have taken people reaching the cap for this to become a discussion - it makes many of us lose a bit of faith in this company.

This Essential Key fiasco is turning into a mess

At least let us disable the button…

If you disable all the Essential stuff via ADB the button still wakes the phone… annoying

Oops it will be a paid button soon. 🤫 (🫢)

I always thought it was customary in polite society to say the terms of a deal in advance. Apparently not.

Rob ⚡️ If I had known beforehand that Nothing requires a subscription for the Essential Space, I wouldn’t have bought the 3a for myself and my wife.

I’ll probably sell it if that turns out to be true.

Planning to upgrade to 3A from 1. This is such a turn off. If the button is remappable, at least then it’s useful.
