‏‏‎Chris‏‏‎ changed the title to Suggestion - Prevent power off/flight mode activation when the phone is locked .
2 months later

After 2 months of using the Nothing Phone (2) i have compiled a list of feature updates and notes I believe might add value to the User Experience.

Nothing X Widget

  • Widget defaults to the “X” graphic when inactive/no bluetooth device is connected. (widget functions remain unchanged). Reason: Adding the trademark “X” logo that is already used to denote the Nothing X App retains continuity and helps to beautify the Home screen as opposed to the current square tile that says “Turn On Bluetooth” which IMO seems borderline condescending to the user… Also, might I suggest using a round tile with the “X” logo (defaulting to the square, as it already is, when widget is active. In other words no other changes to the rest of the widgets graphics )

File Viewer

  • Add icon to delete a file/picture on-screen in preview mode. Reason: When reviewing a photo in file viewer the user must click the top right settings drop-down to select “Move to Trash”. Adding a trash can icon adds more intuitive interface and less complexity for the user.

Volume Control

  • Increase resolution of volume increments. (add more segments between max/min) Reason: Increments for ringtone, speakerphone, and call volume are too aggressive. The volume seems to suffer from a, “too loud” to “too soft” in a single click, condition.
  • Add option for “Adaptive Environment Control” for speaker volume. Reason: This feature would not affect the actual slider but would help to intuitively supplement the offset of an environment with varying levels of volume. When used, the volume is slightly (and tentatively) increased based on background noise. It should be subtle, so as to leave actual volume control to the user; while keeping the user from constantly reaching for the volume control.
  • Add option for “Volume Envelope” for any audio output (to include bluetooth). Reason: Today, Movies, Youtube, Ads, Podcasts, news… The medium really makes no difference. There is a phenomenon going around where one minute you are listening to someone speak at an audible level. Then the scene changes in the movie, or another guest speaks, ect. and the speech is so soft you can no longer understand it. Adding volume envelope processing keeps the speech at a fairly constant level.

Glyph Composer Features

  • Change to an 8/16 beat drum machine style input interface. Reason: Quantizing is not implemented in real time or post-processing resulting in less than perfect results. Furthermore, this requires significant skill and trial/error on the part of the user. 8/16 beat drum machine matrix completely eliminates the need for quantization and delivers crisp results.

Battery Conditioning Features

  • Add ability to limit max charging to 85-95% and maintain. Reason: Li-Ion batteries are proven to last longer when charge/recharge cycle is kept below the maximum (and minimum) capacity threshold.
  • Add ability to choose whether phone charges at accelerated rate. Reason: Li-Ion batteries (as well as many other battery chemistries) respond positively and last many more cycles when recharging at a reduced wattage (in relation to its maximum “C” rating).

Swipe down tab can be accessed from lock screen, anyone can access to internet, blutooth, hotspot on off options even if phone is locked

Agree with the feature request list.

I would like to add two more-

1.Some “musical” ringtones for us older people. Don’t like the funky ones offered so far.

2.A semi transparent unobtrusive small sized display of day/date/time/current temperature&weather on the home screen.

Some nice ideas here! Be sure to submit your feedback via your phone’s Settings > System > Feedback option or the OS Feedback Form.

Users can now easily toggle Wi-Fi, and airplane mode from the lock screen, which may increase the risk of unauthorized use. It’s better to disable access from the lock screen.

Hell NO! Most people complained to have those functions available on Android without unlocking their phones.

People whining about security has done nothing but ruin the experience. Now every time you install something you get a ton of popups asking you if you want to allow certain things or not, so damn annoying.

I believe there may have been a misunderstanding. My request was to disable access from the lock screen. My concern is that if my phone were to be stolen, the thief could use the NFC for payment and even turn off the internet connection or put the phone into flight mode without needing a password.

i cant find on how to disable it. its annoying that someone can swipe down and access it when your phone is locked. hopefully an update for this soon.

I think it could be an easy fix. It doesn’t have to stop you from pulling down the tab, just ask for password if you want to toggle anything .

Paying from phone is maybe easy, but include security risk.

Credit card is not that dangerous.

      Cash is a different story.

I’m quite new to the Nothing Phone 2 now and I’m still setting up my device. Unlike on my old android, there seems to be no option to disable the quick settings on a locked lockscreen, right?

I just moved to Nothing (2) and here I am facing an issue that while my phone is locked, anyone can easily toggle flight mode or turn off data. It seems very unsafe in case of lost/theft phone. I couldn’t find any method to disable it.

        Can anyone help with that?

Avoiding power off option in lock screen should be avoided along with access to other settings features like aeroplane mode and others

SaswatSaidutta yes i’m agree and please report it here so the team see it : settings > systems > feedbacks
