Instagram red heart emoji shows black/white - help

Hi, I’m facing a strange issue on my Nothing Phone 2a (Nothing OS 2.5, Android 14).

When I react with the ❤️ red heart emoji in Instagram DMs:

In the main app, it shows 🖤 black

In Instagram Lite, it shows 🤍 white

But the other person sees ❤️ red as expected

I’ve tried clearing cache/data, reinstalling the app, and even factory resetting the phone — no luck. Logged into the same account on other phones, and it works fine there.

Seems like a rendering bug specific to this device.

Anyone else facing this or has a fix?

This bug seems tied to Nothing OS 3.0 (possibly emoji rendering/font bug), and is affecting multiple users. Can the developers please look into this for the next beta/stable patch? this is ruining the nothing os experience. Thanks

Hritabrat I’m also facing this bug but I don’t know it’s a bug or default icon. It’s only in Nothing phone 2a users

I’ve had this for a while as well, thought it was a problem with the Instagram app but the issue has been there ever since I updated to the beta of nothing OS 3.0

I would like to know what part of nothings Os is interfering in Instagrams heart emoji , this is a serious issue Carl please leave everything and look into this/s

Some of y’all find “problems” where no problem exist, just to complain about the most peculiar things. It’s honestly amusing to read, lol.

If I remember correctly, this bug is caused by using the Inter font. If you look closely, the 5G and 4G symbols haven’t been updated to accommodate for it either.

I have had Phone 3a Pro since may, I am also facing this problem. But I don’t mind it that much right now.

Hritabrat The best way to get this on the team’s radar is by submitting reports using settings -> system -> feedback.
