I’ve been using the Nothing Phone 2a for around 8 months. Last month, I enrolled in the Nothing OS 4.0 Open Beta. The update brings good features, but I’ve also noticed several bugs and performance issues. Sharing my feedback so the team can refine and improve the experience.
Bugs & Issues Noticed:
1. App Opening/Closing Lag
Many apps take a moment to open or close.
Animations feel sluggish compared to earlier versions.
2. Slow App Performance
Some apps feel heavy and not smooth.
General UI responsiveness is reduced.
3. Slow App Installation/Uninstallation
Installing or uninstalling apps takes longer than usual.
The progress sometimes freezes for a few seconds.
4. Instagram Stuck at 60 Hz
The Instagram app runs only at 60 Hz.
Refresh rate goes back to normal only after restarting the phone.
5. Screen Turns Off While Watching Short Videos
When watching short videos, the screen turns off after ~30 seconds.
It seems like the system is not detecting active content playback.
Add Stronger Transparency Effects in Nothing OS
• Add More Transparent/Glass Effects in UI
Bringing back or expanding transparency would make the UI look cleaner and more premium, similar to earlier Nothing design language.
Many users love the aesthetic and would appreciate more visual refinement.
Where transparency could be improved
Quick Settings panel
Notification shade
App drawer background
Volume panel
Lock screen and widgets
I think stronger transparency and dynamic blur effects would fit perfectly with Nothing’s design identity and make Nothing OS feel even more refined.
