Well, let’s compare with One UI as I came from Samsung. I didn’t see any ad on a budget and flagship phones (not including Unpacked invite notifications). It has bunch of customisation that also opens more with GoodLock. But overall the main experience isn’t that “aesthetic”. Nothing, let’s say, was first to adopt a real monochrome screen that now Google Pixels have. I can compare Nothing OS and One UI as I have both.
And yeah, Nothing’s goal is minimalism. Even “Less is more” maybe. If you’re not happy with this, just choose another phone that does all that fancy thing. Some phones are having a literally stock Android experience on it without any customisation options even like Nothing provides. Not everyone likes such great customisation and is okay with out-of-the-box look.
Like I even don’t know do I really need anything more for a clock face if I simply enjoy the dotted ones. I’d just like to see it changing the colour from white to black or according to overall theme colour to match it.
At my guess the main goal of Nothing now is AI and AI-driven services and devices. So they’re polishing the experience, adding more features to show us their explanation of what an future phone should look and be. And that works, as I really got so much used to Essential Space and its “natural” usage.
To sum up — you know what you’re buying. A clean less-distracting experience. And no, I’m not a fangirl, just a person that was caught by its aesthetic and loved this all.
