PardhanSingh Completely Agreed, It should provide minimum 5 years of software updates to standout from other brands.

It should work on the Camera and other useful settings.

I think compared with glyph updates other useful settings, camera and performance updates are more important.

By this reasoning, you never do anything to shake any industry… Of course a well established brand can produce much more polished devices, it’s how the industry works. And OF COURSE, a newcomer that try something new has product that are most of the time less feature rich for the same price or higher. Again, it’s how industry works… You can’t compete with an established brand that sell millions and millions of phones and that can cut the price for everything they produce. It’s just logical.

You compare a 7a, that is owned by the company making the OS and can optimise everything in app like the camera and the phone 2… It’s like comparing carrots and potatoes…

Of course Nothing needs to improve, but we never found a newcomer that sticks this long with quality product since OnePlus… or maybe Xiaomi ? And even if we take Xiaomi’s phone, they were complete garbage is the early days and for yearssssss.

Conclusion, yes Nothing needs to expand and be staffed accordingly in the software department (as it’s THE principal selling point in smartphone nowadays), but they also need to need burn there foot by etanding too fast.

Well, the way of saying your opinion is quite decisive. Most of your points are valid. Even I wouldn’t like to buy a Nothing Phone after using the Phone 1 unless Nothing releases something amazing in the next 2 years. I would rather have a Samsung or a Pixel.

But the 5 years of update policy will make the company cater to a very small section of the userbase using a 5 years old mobile. A company with actual data points will make a better decision with it by seeing how many people are actually using a 5 years old mobile. People usually change within 3-4 years.

They can do some really good marketing and sell products by promising 5 years of updates. Whether they actually deliver them is another thing

PardhanSingh

PardhanSingh Agree on some of this, as Nothing reach 3rd Gen of their devices they do need to show more of the innovation that has been talked about… however, this feedback is mostly useless.

Dude, come up with specific suggestions for improvements rather than wasting your time just saying how bad everything is next time. Prime example, use AI in everything… what are you talking about? AI needs to be implemented in way that actually enhances the user experience. So what are the suggestions for that? Maybe take inspiration from Rabbit R1 to make common actions easier on a phone, is that what you are really asking for here?

The OnePlus 12 launch has been widely praised because they focussed on things that actually matter to the User. Circle to search looks cool, but actually faster charging or better battery is still way more important to 99% of users…

Louis ☕️ What exactly are you expecting from a start up company? Remember that Nothing is only 3 years old, whilst the other brands within the market all have at least 10+ years of experience.

I would disagree with you though, Nothing OS alone has a lot of extraordinary things that other brands do not give their users, let alone the Glyphs found on the rear of the devices and their functionality.

start-up should excite us. camera is basic. pls look at the way how bad nothing captures pics. people looks better on screen before clicking capture button. once you take a picture it goes for a toss with your very bad processing. I took a picture with my dad. once my nothing 2 processed the pic, it looks like I’ve been added by a bad photoshop skills, it doesn’t look natural. pls pls fix camera 🙏. we all bought your gadgets to support you guys. don’t escape saying start-up. basics needs to be strong. camera is one of it.

    SrikanthKanakala start-up should excite us

So there wasn’t anything about Nothing that excited you? I think there’s heaps to be excited about, from the unique design choices, the minimalistic (and smooth) OS, the Glyph interface, widgets as well as the whole thing around having a new brand entering the market, doing something a bit different.

I can’t do anything to fix anyone’s camera concerns, I don’t work for Nothing 😆 I think there needs to be some level of patience and acceptance though from everyone, that Nothing is still a new team, with small resources compared to most other brands in the same market. Over time, I’d imagine the resource towards certain elements like the camera, for example, will improve and develop.

Remi F Yeah after that they nerfed the camera performance. That mkbhd review won’t hold a candle now. It doesn’t even have HDR on/off toggle. How much does it take to add one? I guess nothing need billions to do that. Lol.

Nothing is spending lot of money on marketing and advertisement which is good for the company and it will surely help you to increase your brand value.

But the thing is that when it comes to compare your phone with other brands you don’t even consider any other existing Android based brand that can compete with you rather you directly compare your self to the legendary iphones.

So my question is …it is you who compare your phone directly to the iphones and give a false hope to the people that this phone is the best alternative of iphones.( By creating bogus hype with famous youtubers)

Now by watching the YouTube videos and your CEO comparison video on nothing phone 2 and iPhone I made my mind that if Carl is saying this much good words about the phone 2 it means it is surely a good product ( because Carl is having a good image which he got from OnePlus) and I don’t know how many more user have purchased this phone just by looking that comparison video.

If you boldly comparing your phone to iPhone then your phone should have parallel features like iphones too.

Don’t just start crying like a baby when user started asking you about your claims that you have made earlier.

Do not hide your self behind a 3 yr old firm tag because it is not going to help you anymore. We the people of India are not fool.

Give us what we pay for it or face the harsh and difficult questions which will definitely come to you everyday.

If you can’t give us a video capturing ability like the same iPhone which has been compared with phone 2 by your CEO than just take down the comparison video from the you tube and every social media platforms.

False claims, fake hype and grabbing innocent peoples pocket will cost you one day ..mark my words.

    Give us what we deserve.

SrikanthKanakala Camera quality is very subjective… that’s why MKBHD test is the only viable test. The fact that Phone (2) have a very good place in Price/Performance regarding camera performance. It’s just facts over thousands and thousands of people voting blindly… So maybe it’s not to your taste, but then you need to pay more for better performance, you cannot have their cake and eat it too…
It’s just a fact that the camera is not as people as shout in the forum…

For @PardhanSingh, you clearly don’t know how marketing works. Nothing is using almost 0 penny for marketing compare to ALL other brands in the smartphone world. They are just using their Instagram and YouTube, sometimes tech reviewer. That’s all, you don’t see TV add etc…

When people buy the phone, they know that there is 3 year of major update, it has never been hide.
And again the video that compare the Iphone with the Phone(2) is a marketing video that primarily focus on features and what the phone has to offer for its price, FOR ITS PRICE. And it’s always mentioned…

But anyway it seems that people can’t take a foot backward to have an overview of what’s going on, then never mind it’s not even worth trying debating…

Remi F I see this frequently from nothing sympathisers. If someone raises an issue, say it’s a startup (or) say to customers that you got what you paid (dreaming phone 2 is a cheaper phone). on the flip side, compare with iphone and create hype 😂. we are not asking nothing to perform like iphone. we ask perform good “basics”. I still respect the brand.

Longer support is better, I agree. Especially regarding the security patches.

But all the other stuff I am always surprised how much people expect and what wonders they think to buy. It is a just a smart phone. 😅

It’s probably me, I enjoy the phone as it is.

          PardhanSingh

First of all I hope you know that the famous you-tuber is an investor in the company!

Secondly, carl in comparison videos never said camera is the best, he asked a question about the value for money. And realistically we don’t take pictures in such harsh challenges and also taste of point and shoot pictures is different from person to person. If you expect iphone like quality it is your expectation do not give any assumed comments, please.

Every one does compare to the iphone because it is the industry gold standard. Nobody compares Samsung to Google or Oneplus or Sony. You aim for the gold standards. In-spite of being big organisations iphone has the best video quality and may be the best non over AI corrected photos.

People of India are not fool, Nothing has their manufacturing unit in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. Please let us not bring this race card, there is already enough negativity in the world with this.

Further to this, please follow rahul, he still uses phone(1) for pictures and they are some of the best. Please stop complaining it is not good. It is worth for every paisa you paid for.

Its funny to see the fanboys chirping in support ! As if Carl has done anybody a favor by launching a startup…

Frankly, Both phones are all hype and no show. No marketing is a blatant lie, there is a lot of viral, secret influencer based marketing going on.

Once you get over the useless disco lights and the “poor man’s iPhone” looks, you realize that this is not even a good mid ranger. Basic features like Ip68, proper low light photo/videography etc is missing. Add to that there are no updates !

First lot users of every device are being used as Guinea pigs anyway…

No wonder the mid ranger startup has to launch a mid ranger device (2a) to survive 🙂

Samik LMAO your comments is insane xD.
No fanboy here, just an objective user here in the forum to say what’s wrong and guide people.

There is no lie at all in every marketing material that’s been out, period. Else, you’ll need to provide proof…
“Useless disco light” is your way of seeing things. I use it every day, and it totally changes the way I interact with my phone at work while it is sitting on my desk.
IP68 just don’t matter as it is IP68 in reality… it’s been years and years than companies don’t pass those test because they are expensive as fuck and would make the phone most expensive in the end. But tear down the phone, you’ll see the same water protection as an IP68 phone…
Low light performance in Phone(2) is actually what saves the device in MKBHD blind test 😂 so clearly you are not objective over the data. Phone (2) is not great in video and in stabilization yeah, but definitely not in low light lol.
And no updates… well there is 1 update per month for each device since the beginning, addressing more and more bugs each time and tuning the UI to what people of the community want. So either you don’t know how to go to your phone’s settings to update 🙃🙃, or you really have time problem.

Remi F Alright….considering that I am planning to swim with the phone…let’s consider that IP68 “does not” matter for the sake of saving Nothing Phone’s grace. (maybe all other companies are dumb to get their phones IP68 compliant) !!

You go on and on about Phone 2, but I am looking at the overall picture which includes phone 1 too…infact that was the device that users bought from an unknown startup & heck that device does not even have stable Android 14 till today. I am not even getting started on the low light cam (photo + video) of that device.

Video recording tests the level of maturity of camera software development. Admit that the camera app is still immature. Moreover regarding software the little bug fixes are good….but why are there so many bugs in the first place? !

The best “bug fix” Nothing dev can do now is to open Camera2 API completely so people can use 3rd party camera apps.

Finally customer support & device quality check in different countries (sigh) 🙂
