Samik if photography is the priority why not go for s21 fe and OnePlus 11 r or the pixel. I am using phone(2) and am really happy with what I have.

Nothing users exist because of the simply minimalist smooth software which only few people appreciates. OnePlus’s UI feels like a clutter and isn’t well arranged. Samsung S21 gets too hot and isn’t that smooth and powerful. And pixel has it’s own major issues…

So yeah everything has it’s own set of flaws.

I agree there is some hype..but that’s part of the marketing strategy…if u are a nothing user..u should have choosen it for what it is

*the useful part of glyph lights which many find useful

*stable and smooth ui experience that is clutter free and as good as a pixel but without the heating and performance issues.

*The minimalist people who really appreciate the aesthetics and yes the design too.

*It has excellent network connectivity and is reliable for work.

*Excellent battery backup.

…and if that’s not the case…bad decision buddy.

SuprojitKayal If photography is a priority I can name 10 models better than the one’s u mentioned. But that’s beyond the scope of discussion here.

Simple minimalist smooth software? Nobody sane needs to look beyond any Pixel, any Android One device or heck…any modern Moto.

Minimalist DOES NOT mean missing/broken functionality. That’s just escapism. The camera app is the crux of that.

    Nothing ph: Good hardware; wasted.

RajeshRkurup Quick question then why does Apple offer 6 years of software updates and has been since 2017 if nobody was using their phones that long. Google already committed to 7 years of updates with their Pixel 8 lineup. There is no longer any differentiator between nothing and google if you want a ‘vanilla’ android experience especially with the upcoming generation tensor chips moving to custom designs instead of rebadging a exynos fabbed on Samsung’s crappy 4nm node bolting a AI accelerator, slapping a Tensor sticker on and calling it a day.

I fail to see at least for people that bought this phone for getting a clean user experience (myself included), why they’d get something from nothing instead of a pixel in successive generations if they don’t have feature parity as prices inch ever closer.

Mind you i only compared software, if you even remotely mention camera performance or AI features nothing gets left further in the dust. So yes if you want to remain competitive you have to step up to your competitors else your competition which you keep getting closer to in price without feature parity will eat up your market share.

not like i can stick to a phone more than 3 years anyways, things get out dated pretty fast and i switch asap i experience hiccups. Been with Apple before and literally swapped every 3 years. so i feel like 3years os update + 1 security is enough (for me)

KamiKaze Even Samsung is offering 7 years S/w updates starting from S24 series. Nothing literally has no USP except maybe a few wannabes who love the disco light.

          Samik

Indeed, that’s the beauty of the current market, isn’t it? It’s designed to cater to diverse preferences, ensuring that no one is obligated to settle for a product that doesn’t meet their needs or expectations. Given the vast array of options available, consumers can freely choose what best aligns with their desires. If your view is that the Nothing Phone’s unique features, such as its distinctive lights, don’t constitute a compelling USP for you, then it might not be the right choice for your needs. And that’s perfectly okay, considering everyone’s preferences and requirements are different.

kissa True. Disco lights alone cannot be the USP of a mobile phone in this age and time. hardware has to be reliable & the software has to back it up. Initial release of defective software & frequent fixes don’t matter. Also in the product life cycle, warranty, updates and customer support has to be factored in.

Samik okay so u think the camera is not functional. What makes you say that ? It does the job just fine for me. Unless I want to achieve something out of my pictures.

SuprojitKayal “Minimum Acceptable Quality” of output makes me say that. Photos (not pictures !!) are meant to be achieved something out of, not just for filling up memory space.

Louis ☕️ hey bro I am agreeing with your thoughts about ui it was great I am a great fan of it. And the performance are great but one thing the camera it’s not getting any update I feel like it becoming worse. Especially the processing that’s the only one thing distroying the photos.

They are w new company! The overall design and functionality of everything on this phone (minus the camera) is great. Look at OnePlus, they have been around for almost 10 years and still can’t get the cameras right. We need to give this company some time to find the right people, and navigate the market.

Louis ☕️ I would disagree with you though, Nothing OS alone has a lot of extraordinary things that other brands do not give their users, let alone the Glyphs found on the rear of the devices and their functionality.

Hi Sir. As a owner of one of nothing phone 2, I genuinely agree with U. Mobile is just awesome and UI is sooo good & minimal. But only problem I’m facing is HDR mode in camera app. There is no option to turn off HDR as sometimes HDR making pics bad. I hope in further update devs give solution to this.

What are the reasons why Nothing phones have not been supported for, let’s say, five years like the IPhone? I think this would be a very cool solution, as it would give the notion that Nothing phones are capable of five years of faithful service.

Dude, if you are really want nothing as a mobile company to grow,a constructive and a postive feedback will be well appreciated. However looking at what you have been posting, you seem to me like a horrible person. You make everything sound so easy so what don’t you start a company yourself and produce the “perfect” mobile phone you want? There are many things to consider when it comes to implement changes eg.patent rights etc. Threatening to bring down a young and aspiring company with those words doesn’t do you any good. If you can’t be any understanding and lacks any considerations perhaps go back to using a simple keypad dial mobile phone. A smart phone might be too much for you to handle, especially you know nothing about R&D ,marketing ,applications for patent rights etc. Don’t make it sound like “nothing” as a company is not doing anything to resolve any issues. If you have something constructive to contribute ,that’s great,if you have got none ,you can go on and whine like an old hag.

Did anyone noticed that a flagship phones do get an OS update for near for 4-5 years nowadays, as for Iphone we do noticed the oldest of them iphone xe is also going to get ios 18 the new os upcoming, and similiar case of Pixel their os update years are pretty much good, so do Nothing have to choose that kind of flagship charcter in their tech market? 🤔

Merged 1 post from OS Updates years difference .

Later, nothing should launch upgrade offers so that existing users will exchange their old phones for new ones and receive the best value for their devices. Nowadays, OnePlus is implementing a similar strategy for their older phones due to the green line issue. They are providing the best value for three-year-old phones and also offering vouchers

Today, I have seen an advertisement from oneplus stating that their upcoming Nord 4 will get 4 android updates and 6 years of security updates. Mostly the phone will be in 30k to 35k range.

Nothing phone 2 launched at a price of 45k and will get only 3 android updates and 4 years of security updates. Even the nothing phone 2a has the same update policy. What is the difference between flagship and a midrange phone?

See, nothing phones are known for their software more than the hardware. As nothing is in initial phase their software doesn’t have all the features that other OEM has. Still they are slowly integrating the features one by one.

Also to differentiate the flagship lineup from midrange, you should increase the number of updates. Because the update policy of CMF phone 1 is differentiated from nothing phone 2a based on the price segment.

Same treatment has to be given for the flagship offering.
