Just try out the multitude of gcams written for other phones with other hardware and see if it gets better; probably will not get worse. I am not going to install software written for another phone, but if you like to spend time that way - OK.
If it goes wrong you can always reset to factory.
When is this update NOS 2.5.3 available for NP 2 in the UK

nothingphone2001 Download on the internet and apply manually if you don’t want to wait. I see no change log about the battery drain and certainly there was nothing done for the camera. So this is more like a gimmick and not an important update. Don’t get your hopes too high.

After using the update….it’s okay ig. Nothing broken,nothing insanely new.
Let’s look on the bright side, atleast we got the security patches. Maybe it’ll take time to fix the camera problems and if they aren’t fixing it for the next 6months to 1year then yeah….we can assume that we’re screwed. Till then let’s see.

Okay, you have got really no idea about it
First: Why you are talking about a factory reset? You just install an apk and If you don’t want to use Gcam anymore you just uninstall it. No need for factory reset.
Second: Try to use google and you will finde enough people saying that Gcam work pretty good for many devices. Also you don’t need a lot of time, cause Celso Azevedo offers a big collection with config files for Nothing Phone 1 and 2.

Or maybe they will not make anything with camera and np3 will be ,,improved" . Had high hopes for that product but it’s all a big mistake unfortunately.

lexlexus Caveat Emptor. I feel your pain, I really do. We all want our phones to be exactly as advertised and get all the latest improvements, but even flagship phones aren’t immune from glitches and bugs. Remember the exploding Galaxy Note 7 ? When/if Nothing get around to making the necessary software updates for the Phone 2, we will have a fine product. I don’t blame those who are thinking of bailing, but I think I’ll stick around and see what develops (a little camera humour there).
SiddheshShanbhag submitting feedback is the best way to reach the team. But it doesn’t guarantee that it will be implemented.
They just posted on their Twitter that the 2.5.3 update is available for the Phone (2) and will be slowly rolling out to devices.

Would be nice if they did; likely they do not have the personnel that can do it, or they woud have done it.
Yes remember the Note 7, have had some of the notes (good phones) but luckily not the 7. Never used the pen much though.

We aren’t privy to what is happening in the Nothing offices, but I guess lots of effort is going into stabilizing 2a and developing 3, which may be the reason 2 users are having to wait. Who knows. I want the latest stuff as much as you do, but I don’t have any real issues with my phone apart from camera quality. But I think part of that is my perception after coming from the Galaxy Note 9. If as someone else pointed out, many more months pass by without the fixes some users need on their phones, then we can assume we have been abandoned, but honestly ? I can’t see that happening, it would be too damaging to a fairly new companys reputation.
I believe they are not capable to write camera software.
But would be nice if they did come with a camera update to fix the flaws.
Some have problems with battery (I do not, use the phone only a little) but that would be an easy fix limiting the phone to charge above 85% of full would make battery last longer.
Was once told by somebody with knowledge: do not start a new project before you have finished the old.
