Discussion Title: Camera Optimization Needed for Nothing Phone 2a

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using the Nothing Phone 2a for a while now, and while the camera performs decently, I’ve noticed that it often clicks dull photos, especially in normal mode. Skin tones appear darker than natural, and overall colors sometimes lack vibrancy. Interestingly, switching to portrait mode improves the results slightly, but it still needs better tuning.

I believe software optimization can significantly enhance the camera output. For reference, I used GCam on my Moto One Power (which had just a 16MP sensor), and the difference was huge—thanks to great processing and tuning. If a similar level of optimization is applied here, the 2a’s camera could perform much better.

Has anyone else noticed these issues? Hoping Nothing addresses this in future updates! Would love to hear your thoughts.

The same. I was using my old phone redmi note 10s for 4 years, and make photos with Gcam hdr+. Now I have nothing 2a, and stock photos is not that level, so I started to search for good Gcam version, and I found one good version that make photos better than my old phone. But gcam not best solution because of some bugs.

        Just got this phone, nothing os is really great, i like everything about this phone apart from the front camera. Its really blurry and my previous phone–a 4 year old samsung, is better than phone 2a. I know that nothing really cares about its community and have fixed some camera issues promptly in the past, therefore I want to request team nothing to please fix this issue.

        The front camera on the Nothing Phone 2A is blurry, affecting the quality of photos and videos, making them not detailed and crisp enough. It would be great if this could be addressed in future updates.

        I honestly regret buying the Nothing Phone (2a). The camera is completely unreliable. From day one, trying to scan QR codes in apps like WhatsApp and Google Pay opens the front camera instead of the rear one, making it impossible to scan anything. That’s not just inconvenient — it breaks basic functionality expected from any modern smartphone.

        What makes it worse is that the default Camera app itself stops working randomly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and I’ve had to restart the phone multiple times just to take a single photo. I’ve cleared cache, reset permissions, even booted into safe mode — where the camera magically works fine — proving this is a Nothing OS software issue. No third-party apps to blame.

        Right now, I’m sitting in a service center, wasting my time trying to get this fixed. I didn’t expect to spend my day this way when I bought a brand-new phone. This is supposed to be a premium, clean experience — but what I got is buggy, frustrating, and honestly embarrassing. This is not acceptable at this price point.

        I chose this phone for its hype and clean Android experience, but the camera issues alone have completely killed my trust. Fix this fast, Nothing. Or stop pretending you’re making flagship-quality devices.
