  • Developer Program Review ( Nothing Plus 2a - US )

Qualify: My background is in tech professionally and as a hobbiest. I learned how to code around age of 16 and have been learning since then. Professionally, I work in IT with several industry certs in a 65% In-Office & 35% Field Work, Career. To preface matters, as nice and as much as I would love new tech always, I do wait often - “I mean, this isn’t just a quick impulse grab”. I believe the gap between my Samsung and OnePlus 115G was several years, and I did track this as well. Though I don’t always have the newest model, I do love doing competitive homework.

The 2a: From the moment I unboxed the Nothing Phone 2a I was amazed by the design, and after taking a moment to look it over, I placed it in my palm and immediately noticed its lightweight feel. I was taken aback by this aspect of the product and wasn’t sure what to make it, be it ‘good’ or ‘bad’ at that moment.

Rewinding a couple of days, I had just finally placed my order for the 2a and was wondering when it would arrive. I had an important work road-trip and my current phone had a broken charging port. As fate would have it, customer service assured me its prompt arrival time, as that it had already shipped. The phone arrived one day prior to our trip. I ran out to grab a Physical SIM, and setup the phone on a simple-plan as a backup. I hated ever having to leave home with it, but it did add a layer of comfort and security.

For the next few months I would slowly adapt to the phone and how it operates on every level:

    • Nothing OS -> Absolutely Magnificent. I am unsure of if it was the processor or the UI’s software, but the sheer speed of operation of the UI is unparalleled to any phone I have ever used before. I have used iPhones for work and Samsung’s for my private life, with a recent purchase just over a year or so ago of a One Plus model phone. It’s fast! It has a sleek and ‘Stealth’ like custom design. I have zero need for any add-on launchers, this is an absolute first for me.
    • Glyphs -> Show-stopping! You can not beat the idea, concept, and design of the Glyph’s. When I am around people, I also get glances - Okay, my one tech friend was amazing beyond belief. ( As far as development and such, as it was what I signed on for, I can not wait to contribute. )
    • WiFi -> Lightning ‘6’. Simply put, side-by-side a quasi-new iPhone, One Plus, and Samsung, the Nothing Phone is capable of the fastest load times and browser speeds. My most recent speed tests puts download at 319.3 Mbps Download & 10.3 Mbps Upload.
    • Camera Quality -> Flawless. I humbly take photos with my family and use my wife’s phone so as not to show off, but secretly she knows mine is better - “I Think…” - I was going to upload some photos, but they are all 7MB+ at 50MP, I don’t think I have to say anymore about quality.
    • File Management -> Interesting. My friend actually pointed out to me that the file-management ran a little bit different than most native Android OSs. I am still exploring this aspect. I do like it, and it does keep life ultra-simple when I need it to be so.
    • Weight -> Ultra-Lightweight. I was surprised, I thought I would snap it, however, it is the perfect weight in comparison to so many other models after using the phone for several months.
    • A ‘Professional Nod’ -> After learning the back-story of the One Plus Phone, and soon after obtaining my first model, I did eventually find out that Owner and CEO of Nothing Tech, did in fact have a new phone company called Nothing Tech on the Red Cable Club Community. Thank you.

Thank You to the Nothing Tech Team for allowing me to purchase this program. I am excited to contribute in anyway possible, but first wanted to share a review of my time using the model.
