Merged 1 post from CMF PHONE 1.

I have been using CMF PHONE 1 from Past 3 days… and happy to report I am testing it without any Limits… I am doing everything what I do on my other some times even exceeding few thinghs….

I might be the only person installing SAMSUNG brower and using in the Phone… and must say it’s working at the level of GALAXYS OF THE WORLDS… no lag… just pure smooth….

Merged 1 post from Test CMF PHONE 1 DAY TODAY.... .

I also received the CMF Phone 1 at the beginning of May, which means that for the last 2 months I have been part of the pre-release testing for the CMF Phone 1 through the (Insiders) programme. I’ve done pre-release testing before, so I was really excited. I was part of a small group of testers and software team members, and we could always contact the software team if we had any questions. It felt like we were really involved in Nothing, helping to improve the product together.

When I picked it up for the first time, I immediately noticed: It has a familiar button layout. The volume key might be a little high for some right-handed people, but for me it was still within easy reach.

Starting up the phone felt like any other Nothing phone running Nothing OS. Sadly, I was unable to test the modularity aspect of the case.

Looking at the specifications, they seem very similar to the Nothing Phone (2a)! Only NFC, wireless charging and the glyphs are missing.

We have a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 with 8GB of RAM (another 8GB available with RAM Booster). A storage option of 128GB or 256GB along with a 1080×2400 Super AMOLED and a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate as well as HDR support. The 5000mAh battery comes with a 33W wired fast charger (no wireless charging, unfortunately).

The phone feels similar to Nothing’s main range and is very responsive when used as a daily driver. It’s slightly slower than the Nothing Phone 2 in tasks like unlocking and booting, but it’s on the same level as the Nothing Phone (2a). It handles multitasking well and has been extremely stable since the start of the test programme. However, I noticed a few minor bugs that were quickly fixed during the test period.

Bluetooth performance is very good. It works well with gamepads such as an Xbox Elite Gamepad or wireless earphones such as Nothing Ear, Ear(a) and Buds Pro 2.

The quality of the display itself is high. You can see vivid HDR colours (in supported videos, of course) as well as SDR content.

Moving on to the speakers, I have to admit I rarely use phone speakers, so I can’t really compare them. But they sounded good enough.

The battery life is impressive. With a 5000mAh battery, it’s hard to drain it in a single day, even with heavy use. I would say it could potentially last up to two days on a full charge.

In terms of gaming, more demanding games such as Honkai Star Rail run on high quality settings with minimal stuttering, so I would recommend keeping the details a little lower. Less demanding games, on the other hand, run very smoothly.

My final thoughts:

Overall, the CMF Phone 1 offers a stable and refined user experience. The UI/UX is smooth, and the test programme has been very well managed, with frequent OTA updates that have fixed the bugs that have been reported. While there are minor trade-offs in comparison to the Nothing Phone 2 and 2a, such as the lack of NFC and wireless charging, the phone’s performance is solid.

The CMF Phone 1 runs on NOS 2.6, with unique features such as the battery charge limiter. It is also the first Nothing/CMF product to include a microSD card slot (up to 2TB), so you never have to worry about running out of space.

If you’re looking for an affordable daily driver that doesn’t need NFC, wireless charging or the Glyphs, or if you just want to tinker with the backplate, go for it!

I bought the CMF phone 1 on the launch day from Flipkart and in the combo options there was no stand being offered. As I was going through flipkart today, I noticed that anyone who’s buying the phone from today, will get the stand for free.

I feel cheated as the buyers who blindly brought the phone during launch are at loss here.

I read the post on @cmfbynothing’s X handle that every CMF phone 1 buyer will get the chance to buy the official 33w charger for 799rs INR price. This “applies to all CMF phone 1 buyers” mechanism should be applied to the stand as well.

Please sort this out as it ruins the customer delight and satisfaction.

I’m not tagging any mods or the senior team to not get the thread flagged as spam or community rule violation.

I just want to be treated farily.

Can anyone please guide me on how to dispute this the right way, so that everyone gets treated the same and equall

It just feels wrong, the people who bought the phone on day 1 are the ones who put their faith in a new product before any reviews or real world opinions were shared by regular users. While I am wholeheartedly happy with the phone itself, the accessories offering seems messed up to me. No charger in box and even if one is ready to buy the charger, it is not available at least until 31st of this month. I believe it is only right if the stand is made available for the same price to all the customers.

Maybe that would be reasonable if the phone was a few months’ old, but the phone has literally just been released and it appears the early supporters have been shafted. I know I would be annoyed, to say the least.

        Hope it gets sorted @BeautifulTetris.

Nice review. Regarding the lack of NFC – can someone who has the CMF Phone 1 check whether then can fit a bank card under the case and still use it contactlessly? That way people with one main bank-account might be able replicate having NFC.

It’s annoying, I know, but I don’t think you can claim something you didn’t buy because a few days after your purchase “Flipkart” puts up a bundle with an accessory for the same price. It is not commercially viable. It wouldn’t be commercially viable if everyone who made a purchase on day 1 shouted “I want it too”.

Can you explain what do you mean by same price?

I guess you are not able to understand what I wrote in my original message. The stand was being sold for 9 Euros since the launch day, now it is being offered for FREE, for the new buyers. Flipkart does NOT decide on what to bundle with the phone or what price a product should be, it is brands who set prices, offers, combos and pretty much everything.

It would be better if you don’t try to make yourself look like a representative of what the brand considers as commercially viable or not.

I mean phone+accessory = same price of the phone.

I do, it is not my main language but I understand english.

              Mine is a personal thought.

We are here to talk and discuss, and in my opinion your request makes no sense. You’re free to say otherwise, I’m free to express my thoughts as long as it doesn’t involve an insult, right?

So if the conditions of sale that you accepted at the time of purchase did not include the inclusion of an accessory, for me your request is out of place.

If you want to raise a complaint, I advise you (not as a representative of something, but as any user of this forum) to do so in a specific section (perhaps Community Help -> Orders & Shipping?), as it is not relevant to this topic.

sean (1) “When can you take the shell off?” - we’re not going to be authorized to remove the shell. The reasoning is sound though, our hardware was not the final version. I’m okay with not being able to see it now that I’ve seen the final version, but holding and using the device is less enjoyable. It’s large and creaky and uncomfortable to hold.

                  megatomic

Really?! 😲 They won’t let you take the shell off even though the phone has been launched?

OK, what you have there is not the final version of the phone, but what difference would it make to anyone if you start carrying around a phone that kinda looks like a CMF Phone 1? There are people out there 3D-printing their own cases for the phone.

I’m being nosey; are you able to share photos of what the shell looks like, or is no-one allowed to set eyes on it?

sean (1) We were directed to not take photos of the device to share on the internet. This is pretty standard for pre-release hardware testing to be fair.

But we are post-release now. Oh well. 😊

                      sean (1)

There was a leaked image of the phone way before it was announced. It had some sort of thick black case around it, completely hiding the back. I don’t know if that is what they mean by a security shell.

Maybe it was intended for the testing team to only report on the camera, software, screen and performance.

                      Mirko_ddd

Mirko_ddd I mean phone+accessory = same price of the phone.

No, that is not the case clearly. This is why I mentioned that you may have not understood my earlier post. Let me clarify:

Launch day price: Phone (6GB/128GB) + Stand = 175 Euros

Current offer for new buyers: Phone (same variant) + Stand (Free) = 160 Euros

This results in a price difference, as the stand is now included for free. My concern was never about claiming something I didn’t buy, but about equal treatment for early adopters who supported the product at launch. Early buyers are the ones who contributed to the record-breaking sales of 100,000 units in just 3 hours, right?

I really appreciate your immense interest in responding to my posts, but I feel some of your replies misinterpreted my concerns and overlooked some obvious things like price difference and the free inclusion of the stand for new buyers so soon after launch.

My comment about your personal thoughts where you mentioned ‘commercially viable’ was in response to you making an assumption about the company’s business model - something neither of us can know for certain. It’s okay if any of this doesn’t make sense to you. I find it ironic that you mention conditions of sale when I’m not even asking for free items. I want Nothing, as an emerging brand, to prioritize customer satisfaction and build brand loyalty.

My intention is not to turn this into some keyboard war but to highlight a situation that affects people like me who trusted the brand earlier than others have.

And you’re right that this review thread may not be the ideal place for this discussion. I have created a separate thread about this issue yesterday, but mods have decided not to approve it as “it is not something for the community to discuss” and asked me to contact support about this.

I have already contacted support of both Nothing and CMF, but there is no reply from them over mail or X/Twitter. So I decided to post about it here.

Let’s not corrupt this thread by being insensitive or apathetic to each other.

I bought the newly launched cmf phone 1 recently, I absolutely love it , the UI , the widgets, the nothing icon pack, the monochrome user experience, it fells like the phone has its own character, I feel it would be a lot better , if this phone had it’s own gallery app instead of google photos, it’s own dailer , messaging and contacts app instead of google dailer, the stock android thing’s good but I feel it eats up the phone’s character that I love so much

Merged 1 post from User experience on cmf phone 1 .
