  • Additional funding and a new partner.

You’ve already gotten your eyes and ears on our first-ever product. And we’re more focused than ever on keeping the momentum going and driving our mission forward.

That’s why we’re proud to have raised an additional $50M in investment from strategic and private partners. Like our community investors, other similar minds have decided to put their faith in what we’re doing and share this journey together. This achievement is another testament to the collective spirit in which we want to shape the future of Nothing.

On top of this, we’re delighted to announce that Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. will be working with us to power our future product ecosystem with their Snapdragon® platform. This partnership will drive further innovation and ensure top-notch performance from a range of upcoming products in our journey.

So if you’re as excited as I am, tell us below. What do you think these updates mean for the future of Nothing?

Rudi Big news for Nothing - the additional funding and the newly announced partnership. 🥳

I believe they bring a sense of stability, not just to the company, but to the Investors and Community Members.

Personally, I hope Nothing is taking lessons from the ear (1) launch and can apply them to an “intermediate” product, namely, a wearable powered by a Snapdragon. After that, perhaps a smartphone.

I also think the new funding can be used to help the R&D of a phone. The task of creating one, even in a fast-moving place like Shenzhen, is daunting and it can take years to iterate and perfect. I can see a “phone (1)” being the centerpiece to that ecosystem, but having a compelling product takes time, time that’s necessary to mature.

Qualcomm is indeed the logical partner and it shows that earphones was the company testing the waters. I do hope they don’t leave this category behind. The experience gained with a smartwatch, for example, can be key to enter the next product category, one that will be even more expensive to enter and maintain.

Really positive and exciting news here - so much faith from big names and brands makes my optimism for Nothing’s success grow.

Qualcomm is one of the best in consumer tech - the breadth of their component range doesn’t offer much in the way of clues for the next product from Nothing … but yeah, smartphone please 😆

It was reported from a Swedish tech news agency Di Digital (https://www.di.se/digital/byggde-mobiljatte-i-kina-svensken-tar-in-438-miljoner-till-sitt-nya-bolag) that two of the new owners through this raise are the duo Axel Hedfors (Axwell) and Sebastian Ingrosso (Ingrosso) from Swedish House Mafia. I kind of like Nothing getting attention within the music industry for the Ear(1).

Would be interesting to know their long term view on the investments, for example how they can contribute for products like wearables or even a smartphone that isn’t necessarily connected to the music industry.

Thanks for sharing, that’s actually pretty epic - I miss Swedish House Mafia!

It makes sense that musicians would know about, and have confidence in, the guys over at Teenage Engineering. I agree, it would be cool to hear from these two about their choice to invest - maybe an interview is in order!

That are some good news! I’m happy to see that you secured another funding and even partnered with qualcomm! Seems like nothing gets slowly more and bigger attention 😁

Let’s see where this leads to! A new phone would be really cool but I’m sure this is something for later as @[deleted] wrote already those chips are broadly used. I mean we have seen already some user concepts, and every single one looked really unique.

        So anything is possible!

I still think a power bank is the way to go, it’s something that’s not to crazy like a smartphone or whatever, instead it’s simpler to create and cheaper for the customers. Also the possibilities of transparent design are nearly endless, imagine just a transparent part exposing the main battery module. A wireless charger would be sick, a small display displaying the battery level would be pretty cool but it would be even more expensive.

All I’m saying is if we do end up getting a power bank I personally wouldn’t be disappointed at all.

Congratulations to NOTHING and all the Community members. It’s actually a great news. Qualcomm has almost all the required chips in the Tech industry. It’s bring the company stability and transparency in what ever it requires. Now the company has all the big guns like Google, Qualcomm and the quality of Teenage engineering. With all these the company can go blazing. Now we have the capability of building an ecosystem.

I am remembering a song from F&F Hobbs and Shaw. It is - Next Level by Aston wyld 😂.

        Congratulations 🎉

It’s amazing to have this strategic partner so early on in the game!

@Rudi is the latest valuation for this funding round confidential or will you announce it publicly?

Hey guys, stepping in to provide additional color to the round.

In regards to what the valuation is and who the investors are, we are not announcing this info right now because it doesn’t fit our current goals. Hope you can understand.

We’re super humbled by the support coming in from all around – supply chain, strategic partners, and investors and will keep pushing ahead.

And especially the faith from our community. Betting on us was bold, considering all we told you about about our future roadmap were a bunch of Pokemon names.

          Carl

I’m getting so DROWZEE by all these great news. It was kind of ONIX-pected that Swedish House Mafia stepped in, but we like it!

No worries about name-dropping. You already have some very big names dropped on the official list. We understand and that isn’t as important at this stage. Hyped - let’s GO!

            FilipJacobson

I can only second this. I think Nothing has the right mind set and they seem to be very goal-oriented. As long as these kind of news keeps dropping I´m satisfied and specifics/details will uncover over time. Like @Carl said; we belived in Nothing when it was nothing ( 😆 ) but Pokemon names.

            Buckle up…

This was sort of expected but it’s exciting nonetheless.

Cristiano Amon, CEO and President of Qualcomm, replied to Carl on Twitter about the newly-announced partnership, as you can see below.

And Carl replied to that message thanking him for the trust.
