I noticed that in most apps, my phone just sets the display refresh rate on 60hz even if it’s set on 120hz in the settings. I’ve noticed that dynamic display mode slightly fixes the problem but it’s still on 60hz, and the 120hz option lags at moving objects on the screen, like whys that? This is so annoying and makes me regret buying this phone. I hope nothing fixes this. My previous phone Samsung A52s didn’t used to do that at all.
Screen Refresh Rate - Help
Caden Hey mate, you’re not locking your device to 120hz unless you’re doing that via developer settings. (2a) uses adaptive refresh so it adjusts based on the task you’re doing… this is to provide a smooth experience but, also to preserve battery life, etc.
Certain apps don’t support 120hz and that’s typically a developer decision/issue vs. it been a Nothing issue.

Caden I’ve tried to get some information about this from nothing support but to no avail. They repeatedly say that it is due to chip capabilities but it is nonsense, how can it run 3d games like minecraft and pubg(or codm) in 90 or even 120 fps, but can’t run programs like google maps and classroom in 120 fps?

Then why do we see complains about 60fps in Google maps (and other apps) for other brands too like Xiaomi, OnePlus or even Pixels? Just do a Google search and you ll see this is not a Nothing phone specific issue.
As hrry suggested earlier enable the force refresh rate at developer settings and if the app supports it it will work in high refresh rate. If it doesn’t it means it is locked from the developer of the app.
Antonis_Pap I tried turning force high refresh rate, but it only made things worse, none of the apps starded to magically run at 120 fps, but any videos made the screen drop to 60 and sometimes 30 fps.
Nothing Phone 2 has a 120Hz refresh rate, but on YouTube or other video services, it cannot be used—videos play at 60FPS with 2K HDR enabled. How can I set YouTube to 120FPS on the Phone 2?
