Louis ☕️ The best thing to me about the Snapdragon Insider Phone is that it is made to show off all of Qualcomm Snapdragons technology and AI that OEMs may not be showing off.
Many OEMs like to put their own twist on things and sometimes this is good, but sometimes this is bad. The Insiders phone kind of reminds me of what the Nexus line was doing for Google and Android except this is for Qualcomms technologies and the Snapdragon SOCs.
When Qualcomm and Snapdragon create things, they don’t always have to be utilized by OEMs. They are kind of free to do what they want. So for me, the best thing about the phone is I get to experience Snapdragon in ways that I might not have with other devices.
An example that I can quickly make a comparison to is with the Insider phone and OnePlus 9 series. One thing I’ve noticed is that certain games and applications utilize the power and speed of the sd888 to it’s full potential on the Insiders phone running at the highest frame rates without being throttled. Where as on the OnePlus 9 series some games and apps are throttled to prevent battery draining or overheating.
Also OnePlus doesn’t utilize Snapdragon Sound or advertise aptx in any way nor do they use Qualcomms acoustic fingerprint sensor or Qualcomms Quick Charge technology . They use other technologies for whatever reason and it’s nice to see Qualcomm and Snapdragon showing off what they’ve been developing.
Personally I like both options in seeing the raw potential of the hardware and it’s intention, and I like to see the creativity that OEMs bring to the table. I kind of see Qualcomm / Snapdragon as the creators of the tools and the OEMs are the artists. Put the tools in the right person’s hands and you can make something beautiful, or put the tools in the hands of the wrong person and you’ll have garbage lol.
So this is Snapdragon basically being like….here are the basics of what we’ve been developing. OEMs, step your game up. Lol
