Ran the update while I was wearing the headphone and immediately noticed an improvement in the transparency mode when it rebooted, the mid frequencies in the reproduced sound seem to have been pulled back a bit so things like the HVAC system in my office, my laptop fan spooling up for takeoff, and even my own voice sound far more as they would if I wasn’t wearing the headphones.

Haven’t tried any music yet, will report back what I find, especially after I’ve given the personalized EQ feature a try.

Set up the personalized profile last night, for the uninitiated it uses a basic audiometry test to determine which frequency bands to boost and cut in each ear. I’m not yet sure if I like the results that came out of it, the upper treble in particular was a bit…fizzy for me on some songs, but I’ll give it a go for a few days and if I really end up not liking it I can always go back to @Tofu ’s 1.74 EQ which was still plenty satisfactory for me post-firmware update.

I’ve got Bass Enhancement set to 2 now where it was set to 1 before, I can perceive a difference, but it’s subtle. The main point of confusion for me is that the volume is noticeably lower when listening to a wired source, either USB-C or 3.5mm.

I have done the updated and confirm that the bass enhancement bug is still not fixed.

Personalised sound test ran fine for me however I need to do more testing on what effect this is having on sound as my initial impression is that there was no major change, very subtle.

As per the SoundGuys updated tests on the .74 FW, the best sound quality with stronger bass at current is to turn ANC '‘off"’. On my pair this does significantly raise the 100hz bass dip and the sound feels more balanced.

Obviously not a fix as ANC is still unusable.

Come on team, we need the next FW to fix this sound quality/bass issue ASAP please!

I’m a high-end audiophile. My regular headphones are Stax Lambda Signatures with a matching tube amp. I can only say that my Nothing Headphone 1, with the new update and my personal listening curve, are really good headphones.

TurtleFoot As a high-end fan, I place particular importance on natural reproduction. I love drums, but the sounds have to be lightning-fast and clean. I don’t like a wavering, muffled bass. I prefer less and more precise.

MaihGmbH Thanks for the additional information. How long have you had them, and what’s your opinion on the sound prior to .74? An audiophile can surely tell the difference.

TurtleFoot All I can say is that the “Personal Sound” setting works perfectly for me.

Current issues (.74/.79):

Bass enhance feature has no noticeable effect
Maximum volume is capped at what seems like ~70%

Hopefully this will gain some visibility and be addressed by the engineering team soon, even some transparency would go a long way.

MaihGmbH at this point you’re refusing to answer a simple question and it low key sounds like you’re a shill for Nothing.

All I can say is the max volume is low, the bass enhancement doesn’t work, and the new personal sound errors out in my app.

Literally nothing changed except persnal audio addition, which does not make them sound any better. Roll the og firmoware so we can go back please

So sad. Personal Sound is good, but the Head phone still sounds bad than before, Especially the Bass.
