Rollout Status: Nothing OS 4.0 begins rolling out today starting with Phone (3) and will expand to the rest of the Nothing smartphone lineup over the coming weeks, and to CMF smartphones by the end of the year. Phone (3a) Lite will follow early next year.

AniruddhaSaha_eb8EAZpwnX os updates takes time to optimise according to usage…and lot of things run in background for that…so battery drain is significant… wait for 2-3 days and see if the issue persist …

oatjuice Same with me. They’re talking about 3a and 2 getting the update but I’m sat here with ‘Android 15 is up to date’ every time I look and ping the search button. Even tried to load in the Beta but that apparently isn’t compatible with my build number. Do you have it yet oatjuice?

Weird, I usually get the update very late. I am unsure if there’s a different IMEI order now.

I installed the 4.0beta right when it was available and the stable update was available right at the global release. I might have been the first one to here to post a completed stable install.

Part of me wonders, if NOTHING keeps a IMEI (or device list) based on the order of beta install (or their servers do) and provide updates in that order?

In my old Boston accent: Battery life is wicked good.

RapidZapper Such a practice doesn’t make much sense to me from mobile OS software deployment perspective. Such a practice might be useful in workflows like when upgrading mobile network nodes’ (antennas, base stations, etc) to test new software in a restricted real/live environment with very few subscribers using this network. Is Nothing going to stop the software rollout if they find out that upgrade from version A to version B has serious problems? Then they will have to implement and test different deployment combinations i.e. A to C, B to C, etc. This makes things even more complicated and unpredictable, a complete mess

georgios1 They already did it in the past and it’s a common practice in the industry as you don’t want all your phone to die if there’s an issue with a certain app that 50% of your user base use

georgios1 I believe, IIRC, that there was a previous issue with Dutch users (or those using a Dutch servers), where a faulty update on the NP2 cause a complete disconnection with mobile towers. The majority of the problem was highlighted by NP2 users on a Dutch carrier, i.e. so it might have been the server they were sent to, or there was a conflict post-update with that service provider. I believe that the update stopped rolling out then and fix was found.

There was also an issue with an -IND update that was received before the UK received anything. The release was stopped and then a new update rolled out to all users. I believe if you look back, you’ll see two rapid updates for the NP3.

I don’t mind. Usually the UK gets it last, so it’s nice to have it that way for once (the UK users seemed to be getting the updates at least 15 days laters than those on the continent even though we shared the -EEA firmware).

After using Nothing OS 4.0 on the Nothing Phone 3, here’s my honest and organised feedback. Some improvements are great, but a few important features are still missing, and some bugs remain unresolved.

🔧Features Still Missing in Nothing OS 4.0

🖥️ Advanced Display Controls

Nothing OS 4.0 still lacks deeper display controls, especially for users facing tint and flicker issues:

No DC dimming / PWM control
No RGB / color temperature sliders
No proper AOD brightness & scheduling
No per-app refresh rate options
The display section needs a full “Display Lab” with calibration tools.

📸 Camera Features Still Limited

The camera app feels basic compared to other brands:
No Pro Video mode (no histogram, focus peaking, log profile, zebra, etc.)
Shutter lag and viewfinder delay
No multi-lens 4K60 support
Inconsistent HDR and low-light sharpness
Camera needs deeper tuning and more professional controls.

🐞Bugs Still Not Fully Fixed

🌚 Display Bugs (Major Concern)

Still visible on Nothing Phone 3:
Green tint when unlocking with fingerprint
Low-brightness flickering
Color banding and black crush in dark scenes
Uniformity issues on grey/dark wallpapers
These need panel-specific calibration fixes.

🔋 Battery & Performance Issues

Mixed feedback after updating:
Higher idle battery drain
Animation stutters and lag when multitasking
Aggressive RAM killing
Occasional quick settings lag
Optimisation still feels incomplete.

📷 Camera Bugs

Even after OS 4.0:

Camera app sometimes lags
Screen timeout triggering during recording
Inconsistent sharpness and color
The camera still needs more stability updates.

🔗 Other Issues

Android Auto instability
Pixelation in dark video playback
Notification grouping delay
Some animations still feel unpolished

💡 What Nothing Should Prioritize Next

✔️ Final Thoughts

Nothing OS 4.0 brings a fresh UI and new features, but the core experience still needs refinement. Fixing display issues, improving camera performance, and adding missing power-user features will greatly improve the experience for Nothing Phone 3 users.

In gaming mode there are very less features.

No glyph battery indicator (official not third party)

NFC sucks, it doesn’t detect my nfc tag in one go, i have to touch and remove the tag 2-3 times

That’s it!!!

Rathar than that I think the phone is kinda good
