Hi!

Nothing 2a with nothing OS 2.5.4, all apps updated including android auto/google aps.

Issue with making calls when phone is connected and paired to car audio (Skoda 2021).

How to reproduce?

Easy - connect to your car via bluetooth only or Android Auto and make a call.

What is expected?

Two way communication via car microphone and car speakers 🙂

What is the real outcome?

One way communication only. You can hear but nobody can hear you.

Seems like the microphone can not connect to a car bluetooth.

In addition you cant control the call on the phone only on ther car display - that is wired! So you can not choose the source of your voice (f.e BT/loduspeaker/speaker on the phone).

Additional information

  • phone connects and pairs very well
  • contacts and messeges get transfered immediately
  • in BT connection settings all is checked (media, HD calls etc)
  • android auto works also perfectly and media are working (spotify and others)
  • connection via USB/wireless is the same outcome, no changes

Troubleshooting ive made so far:

  • changed the phone BT name to eliminate special characters issue
  • changed car BT name as above
  • clear all wifi and BT data in the phone
  • forgetting BT connection and rebooting the phone and car audio several times
  • switching car audio to factory settings
  • disabling any voice over internet connection or VOLTE settings for my mobile network
  • disabling android auto and connecting only via BT
  • removing all other phones in the car memory

I have tested 2 additional phones in my car (Xiaomi Redmi not 8 pro and iPhone 12) and they are working great! And no options are available to be found in the car BT to be adjusted so in my opinion - I already made everything I could BUT I didnt tested on the other car yet.

What is different from other phones, that when im connected to the car and starting a call - I cant see call app on the phone, there is only a microphone green icon - my experience is that the call app should be visible on the phone as well as on the car display - but maybe it has been changed.

Anyone had such an issue with 2a?

Please let me know!

Thanks!

I’ve just got a Skoda Octavia hybrid and a new nothing 2a. Android Auto connects and I can use the app but when a call comes in or I call someone they can’t hear me. Checked all permissions and settings. No luck at all.

s0ner yeah, worth a shot (if available).. but, if other devices work on the same unit then shouldn’t have to in theory.

O_uzcanG_l_en yeah, I agree.. should just work “out of the box”. Not sure how to get a technician to respond to this thread, but would be nice.

Praneel Kabra, RaviChandraVarmaVallabhuni & Maximatose submit Feedback on your issue if you haven’t already.

        pavlus Hey,

besides asking here, you might should contact the nothing team directly via Settings, select System, and then choose Feedback.

This is the best way to ensure that your comments and observations are directly relayed to the appropriate teams!

Same issue with nothing 2a with my Ciaz Alpha Maruti 2017 car , Android auto screen initially comes as blank. Then after 10-15 minutes maps screen comes, but then touch not responding. Voice seems working fine. Screen map few minutes works , then freeze. Then not working..Very much frustrating.

Merged 1 post from Android Auto calling issue..

            freshj1ve already did 😉

By the way i have new findings… looks like this issue is on all Volkswagen group cars. And it doesnt matter if its connected by wire or wireless

Another one here with the same problem, with cable and wireless.
            Peugeot 2008.
Complaint, let’s see if they say something

I just saw this thread and wanted to give my feedback that may help. We just bought a 2019 Renault Mégane and the Android Auto works fine, it had some issue the first tume that it did not appear on screen for some reason but after it started working i had no problem. I did not try the call yet because my wife use it most of the time, but will check it out as well and report if something doesn’t work.

addaedans thanks, but before this thread starts getting a bit off track the main issue we are discussing/trying to resolve here here is that the phone connects OK to Android Auto but when you go into it it doesn’t respond to touches, freezes and UI elements missing.

Calls not working maybe another issue all together (but could be related) as most of us having the main issue wouldn’t even be able to get that far.

Main thing is if you’re having issues just provide the feedback, logs to Nothing to resolve.

                Cheers!

freshj1ve Ive created a separate thread about the calling issue but it got merged with this one.

Currently im in the part od sending logs to the support. If the issue gets resolved i will let you know.

diol155 I have an update with my situation, apparently Peugot Touch Screen does not support Android 12 and “above” which is so stupid they do not support latest phones also they do not support iPhone 15 at the moment, whoever is encountering this issue with their 2017 and later Peugeots, “ They do not support Android 13,14 and iPhone 15”. I am in a mail chain with support and suggested using older protocols/instructions for phone when it connects to the Peugot cars. Hope they can do whatever Peugeot can not. Please check your car systems compatiblity with latest models or operating systems. I can understand Android 14 not being supported at the moment but 13? It is almost 2 years old now. So frustrating i also like to thank the Nothing support team for trying their best.

They have already answered me saying that the vehicle is at fault and that I should contact the dealership.
I don’t understand, if Android Auto has worked with all the phones I’ve had.
I have installed the my peugeot application on my mobile and it tells me that I have a screen update, then later I will update it to see if it solves it, but I don’t think that is the reason.
