Ordered the ear (1)? Share your experience

You have followed the teases and the news, you saw the event where the design of the ear (1) was finally revealed. And now the day has finally arrived: you have pressed the “Place Order” button. If so, I hope this thread can be useful to you and to anyone who is thinking about doing the same anytime soon.

Please share with the Community the process of ordering the product. After you do it, what’s the status of your order, when did you receive them. You know, how is this journey going for you? Here are a few starting points:

When did you order them?
When were they shipped?
When did you receive your order?
Was everything in perfect conditions?
Anything you want to add about your own experience.

It can also be a place to report eventual problems one is experiencing with their order or to describe positive surprises you have encountered so far with the company. It’s your order and your experience to help everyone find an overall sense of the process.

I hope that in the end, this place can help others while the genuine excitement is being passed around. As we know since yesterday, it’ll be a staged release, so when a batch of customers is ready to buy the ear (1), other members already went through the process, hopefully giving advice and guiding their fellow Community peers.

A few points that I think can answer some initial questions:

Investors received a direct link to order the ear (1) yesterday, July 27.
A limited batch will be available on nothing.tech July 31 at 15h00 CEST (please check availability in your country).
Open sales start August 17 across 45 countries.

A few steps that can make the process faster:

Visit the official site and start a session with your credentials.
Fill in your profile beforehand (First and last name, your address).

It is very informative and can be very useful as a guide for those who will buy the product, showing the willingness to help others. Isn’t that what a community is for?

I would love to start reading more information about the process, answers to the questions you raise, and to see a little sneak peek of the backstage we cannot yet see.

It can also be interesting in the supposed case that non-investor community members will get a similar way to order the ear (1) before they are available to the general public.

Yep, it can be interesting to follow if all orders are going to be shipped around the same time.

Just a few hours before the first sale is available, so perhaps we’ll start to have a better understanding early next week.

One of the questions I have right now is: will the website hold under stress? It wouldn’t be the first one to collapse, but I hope Nothing is ready when the floodgates open. 😀

Will post here once the order gets shipped out. But I bet it´s the same date as everyone else.

Honestly, I think that it is going to be like the hunger games, so it won’t be easy to get one of those limited units.

I am still consulting the situation with the pillow for a final decision, but probably I will try my luck. Anyway, whether I buy one or not the result is going to be the same: Nothing. 😛

You are also right with what you mention, the traffic is going to be so massive that I hope the site can hold it! We will discover it in less than 3 hours. 🤓

Actually I was able to place them in the basket, but in a blink they were gone. Maybe we will get them in 2025? 😅

I was going to mention this, I had the impression that Community Members would have Early Access too, maybe not equal to investors, but after them. I guess we interpreted that information wrongly. 😰

Well, I missed out on the limited drop sadly. Just as I clicked to pay with PayPal I received the notification that the ear (1) is out of stock… 🙁

They went seriously FAST. I was waiting and refreshing right on time, logged in with my account and all credentials pre loaded which I thought would be fast enough but under a minute later and I got the sold out notification. Oh well, time to wait for the general release.

Yeah, I thought so, too. Disappointed because an employee said in a separate thread that community members would also have early access to purchase along with investors.

I had all the details added to my account, the session started, both on the site and PayPal, I had them in my cart, but somewhere during the process just got the message they were already “out of stock”.

I was expecting them to go fast, but not this fast. Curious to know if there’s a member of the Community who got them.

manuel19 Someone mentioned on Twitter they were gone in less than a minute in Canada. I believe it was around the same here in Europe (Portugal) - perhaps even faster. 😅

It feels like such limited drops normally leave more people unsatisfied than people satisfied. Was among the few to get through in community funding round, but saw multiple tweets from frustrated people. But can understand company’s situation also. They also have limited production capabilities and stock. Very difficult task to balance.

No dice here. So frustrating. Gone in less than a minute with everything already set up. I’m happy for the company, but man… It is def disappointing. Did anyone from the community get a pair?

I understand limited drops, it’s an easy way to increase the hype and the whole sense of exclusivity.

The problem with them, however, is that they are a balancing act. A product launch should be a celebration, but when most people don’t get said product, that excitement can easily - and rapidly - become frustration.

And these are days when everything is amplified by social media. Two people disappointed versus one who can get the product can be the start of a pile on.

It was not my intention to become an Investor, but I did follow the process and I do remember the frustration that started with a lot of people complaining about a delay in the emails, I believe.

I will keep paying attention and I am still as interested as before. However, a lot of people are not so willing to understand the reasons for a limited drop. I can tell you one thing:

After the official presentation, after the embargo on the reviews, Nothing will be talked about today. Again and a lot. And, since it’s a Saturday, it will dominate the conversation.

Oh yeah, I totally understand the point of the Limited Drop. Especially for a company like Nothing that has utilized “hype culture” to a weaponized degree. It’s just so frustrating when that hype leads to disappointment. My mind is especially boggled by the lack of community members that seem to have been able to get one. I wouldn’t be surprised if several pairs are already popping up on eBay at this point.
