PardhanSingh nahh no one will use this processor for more than 3 years, I think at most 3 years os update is needed instead of 2, and they should continue allowing unlocking the bootloader like they currently do, the custom rom support especially phone 1 has is just excellent

So you expect a new brand to provide updates like other tech giants (Samsung/iPhone). They’re not even as big as OnePlus and OnePlus still provides 4yrs of OS updates. 3 years of OS from a new brand like Nothing is commendable and they will eventually increase their support with future devices as they get bigger

    PardhanSingh

PardhanSingh 5 year OS update for nothing phone 2 would be a game changer for this brand by doing so nothing would still keep the game on and can easily compete with OnePlus 12 R and Samsung S23 FE.

Who even uses their device for 5years? The people who uses a device for more than 4years won’t even think of getting new os updates. OnePlus 12R have Snapdragon 8Gen2 bro, how in the world are you trying to compare it’s functionalities with Snapdragon 8+Gen 1 that Nothing Phone 2 have? Mark my words all these Ai things will be paid after 1 or 2 years. Don’t know actually but from my research i find out that the Ai functions are based on Hardware capabilities. So Snapdragon 8Gen3 have more Ai capabilities than Sd 8+gen1 .

PardhanSingh Stop justifying your glyph light by giving us useless updates because ur new updates and new features are not going to make your glyph trash anymore usefull.

How can they not update or give features to Glyph since it’s one of their identities. Maybe you may find it not useful but some glyph features are useful. Also you can turn it off

PardhanSingh Work on your camera software.

This is on point. The brand needs more work on their camera software. For a device costs more than 40,000 INR the camera performance is very weak. Missing most basic features like

    1 HDR On/Off toggle

    2 Night Sight On/Off toggle

    3 Anti-Banding settings

    4 Better Zooming Quality

    5 Better Color Aberration control

    6 Manual Video mode

    7 Dedicated Long Exposure Modes

    8 Timed Burst Shoot mode

9 Minimum Focus range in Normal photo mode

PardhanSingh Make your UI super simple and minimalistic so that an old age person can also operates it without scratching their head.

I don’t find any issues with the overall ui of Nothing Phone, Just change the ucon pack to “DEFAULT” from “NOTHING” and increase the icon size and font size in settings and give it to the old age people, they will easily you the device

PardhanSingh Give us utilities features that is easy to understand and simple to use.

Bro fr ? What is there in the OS which is not understandable?

There are no bloatwares, or waste like Hot apps and Hot games too.

      PardhanSingh

Yes brother, you are right in the current era of technology. If you don’t give updates for five years, nothing people will recognize the phone. So nothing is my request to the company to update the phone for five years and make it work better after software and camera.

It would be great!!! 5 year!!!

I think nothing could add some nice dense system, more device customization, more glyph options I think nothing could add some nice dense system, more device customization, more glyph options and better phone vibration customization

GnaneshwarReddyDyapa sir, stop being in the side of nothing. Think from our perspective

I’m not posting from anyone’s side besides my own. There’s a lot of claims being made about a young company, that’s still finding it’s feet, and people are demanding things that you currently only get from a company with 10+ years of experience. It doesn’t make any sense.

On top of that, people claiming and saying things without any feedback or constructive criticism doesn’t help anyone does it? I care about all opinions, but just saying something without anything to back it up, or support it, is as useful as trying to use a fork to eat soup.

PardhanSingh sorry, I don’t agree with you, as much as I would want nothing to step up but it is a process and you, all of us chose to be part of this process.

An ambiguous comment or feedback will not help resolve the issue, rather be more specific.

As a Mechanical engineer and Product Designer to my knowledge for the scale at which Nothing is working Vs other big players the price Vs features could not be matched at all. The supply chain, inventory, operations it is a lot to sum it up. Others are at much more advantage than nothing.

If you didn’t make yourself aware of it, it is your lack of understanding of your needs. As a user you should know what you want and what you’d like to pay for.

I have a Pixel and Nothing phone(1) , I love my camera on the phone(1) and the UI is much better than the pixel. There are certain questions about certain things but it’s of least importance.

Attention to detail is on point with Nothing devices, on pixel there places you don’t have symmetry, certain features don’t change corresponding to your theme(light/dark). This is what makes me a proud user of nothing devices and these are the things you should look into and appreciate from a Startup company.

Again there are issues with every devices in the market and making everyone happy isn’t possible. Please use this an opportunity to give specific feedbacks and ideas( community ideas are being appreciated by everyone) and make the best out of it.

Louis ☕️ hey add some nothing styles clocks on lock screen and make the pure dark mode(black) and enhance the camera. Thanks.

        PardhanSingh

At least I agree on camera issue….!!

In the new updated camera is ruined…black line on face is coming. Camera is not at all stand in front of samsung, oneplus, iphone.

Trust me realme, redme takes better picture…!!

        Vishwam

I’m also with @Louis ☕️ but the thing is somewhere @PardhanSingh is not totally wrong.

I understand that the company is new & it takes time to settle but the thing is if a new company wants to settle in this throat cut competition market then what others are doing after 8-10 years, it has to do with the very beginning.

Cuz, those brands are well established and has loyal customers & built the trust by now. And is @changename wants to survive & triumph it can’t make an excuse that they are in new in market.

I know it will take time but if customer don’t get what they are getting from well established brands then why would they prefer a new brand.

For example, compare the pixel 7a & nothing phone 2.

7a is cheaper but if we compare the camera quality and AI features it provides, nothing 2 is not even close.

Even for editing pictures we have to purchase google one or use third party app which is not what we expect while giving ₹55000 for nothing 2

PardhanSingh Completely Agreed, It should provide minimum 5 years of software updates to standout from other brands.

It should work on the Camera and other useful settings.

I think compared with glyph updates other useful settings, camera and performance updates are more important.

          HKBardia

By this reasoning, you never do anything to shake any industry… Of course a well established brand can produce much more polished devices, it’s how the industry works. And OF COURSE, a newcomer that try something new has product that are most of the time less feature rich for the same price or higher. Again, it’s how industry works… You can’t compete with an established brand that sell millions and millions of phones and that can cut the price for everything they produce. It’s just logical.

You compare a 7a, that is owned by the company making the OS and can optimise everything in app like the camera and the phone 2… It’s like comparing carrots and potatoes…

Of course Nothing needs to improve, but we never found a newcomer that sticks this long with quality product since OnePlus… or maybe Xiaomi ? And even if we take Xiaomi’s phone, they were complete garbage is the early days and for yearssssss.

Conclusion, yes Nothing needs to expand and be staffed accordingly in the software department (as it’s THE principal selling point in smartphone nowadays), but they also need to need burn there foot by etanding too fast.

Well, the way of saying your opinion is quite decisive. Most of your points are valid. Even I wouldn’t like to buy a Nothing Phone after using the Phone 1 unless Nothing releases something amazing in the next 2 years. I would rather have a Samsung or a Pixel.

But the 5 years of update policy will make the company cater to a very small section of the userbase using a 5 years old mobile. A company with actual data points will make a better decision with it by seeing how many people are actually using a 5 years old mobile. People usually change within 3-4 years.

They can do some really good marketing and sell products by promising 5 years of updates. Whether they actually deliver them is another thing

          PardhanSingh

PardhanSingh Agree on some of this, as Nothing reach 3rd Gen of their devices they do need to show more of the innovation that has been talked about… however, this feedback is mostly useless.

Dude, come up with specific suggestions for improvements rather than wasting your time just saying how bad everything is next time. Prime example, use AI in everything… what are you talking about? AI needs to be implemented in way that actually enhances the user experience. So what are the suggestions for that? Maybe take inspiration from Rabbit R1 to make common actions easier on a phone, is that what you are really asking for here?

The OnePlus 12 launch has been widely praised because they focussed on things that actually matter to the User. Circle to search looks cool, but actually faster charging or better battery is still way more important to 99% of users…

Louis ☕️ What exactly are you expecting from a start up company? Remember that Nothing is only 3 years old, whilst the other brands within the market all have at least 10+ years of experience.

I would disagree with you though, Nothing OS alone has a lot of extraordinary things that other brands do not give their users, let alone the Glyphs found on the rear of the devices and their functionality.

start-up should excite us. camera is basic. pls look at the way how bad nothing captures pics. people looks better on screen before clicking capture button. once you take a picture it goes for a toss with your very bad processing. I took a picture with my dad. once my nothing 2 processed the pic, it looks like I’ve been added by a bad photoshop skills, it doesn’t look natural. pls pls fix camera 🙏. we all bought your gadgets to support you guys. don’t escape saying start-up. basics needs to be strong. camera is one of it.

            SrikanthKanakala start-up should excite us

So there wasn’t anything about Nothing that excited you? I think there’s heaps to be excited about, from the unique design choices, the minimalistic (and smooth) OS, the Glyph interface, widgets as well as the whole thing around having a new brand entering the market, doing something a bit different.

I can’t do anything to fix anyone’s camera concerns, I don’t work for Nothing 😆 I think there needs to be some level of patience and acceptance though from everyone, that Nothing is still a new team, with small resources compared to most other brands in the same market. Over time, I’d imagine the resource towards certain elements like the camera, for example, will improve and develop.
