Even if the design team couldn’t find or commission a similar font to replace Ndot, in my opinion Ntype 82 is NOT a replacement, it ruins the whole image of both the system and the Nothing brand. Ntype 82 looks very much like typewriter fonts from the 50’s and 60’s, it gives both the system and the Nothing brand an outdated, archaic look. Even using fonts analogous to Apple’s SF UI or Google’s Roboto would have yielded a much better result. It saddens me to see that Nothing’s design team doesn’t realize this.
In general, it seems that the brand itself doesn’t understand and can’t build its identity, such drastic changes in design don’t set the right mood, don’t add loyalty and confidence to users.
