New earphones?
Sourav_Satvaya Itās quite simple, you see. If somebody wants to customize more, he customizes more. If he doesnāt want to, he keeps it the default way. Sorted, right?
The OS should provide for features and/or API points where first-party or third-party apps can integrate and expand the functionality. And anybody whoās not interested in spending his time customizing all parts of the OS can just not touch those options.
PS: I am not a customizer. Apart from changing the wallpaper, Iād keep the phone the way it was for years. But Iād be glad to have features and options that Iād probably never use instead of not having them at all. It helps those who need it or maybe my use case changes in the future
mafcarvalho Fair enough. I didnāt intend to say there arenāt any takers for stock Android. Thereās a market for it, but it is rather small. Since it is each personās preference, I wouldnāt argue, but I want to put forward my opinion that most of the feature drops in Pixel phones are redundant where most of them are limited by markets, and then they are often just catch-ups to things that other OS flavors have offered for years. A good example is the long screenshots; even though Google managed to add it a few years ago after being several years late, it is still way inferior compared to the implementation done by Samsung and others. Yes, Google is doing a fine job with caller enhancements, for example, but only if theyāll readily become available to users globally. I also do not see most of their enhancements as āusefulā, but once again it is more of a personal preference. I wouldnāt mind if Iām called a āPixel-haterā because I have never found a reason to love it in the first place. Iāll personally choose anything else but a Pixel.
I fully agree that Nothing should maintain an identity and add features thoughtfully so that they integrate well into the overall UI experience.
SamuraiTronVC With due respect, since most of the innovation in phones today is software-led, it essentially comes down to what the operating system offers. And in the future, the feature set will be a differentiating factor, not to say it isnāt already. But once Nothing OSās basic catch-up will complete, then the next obvious step would be to add more functionality that helps them make their OS offering enriched and more competitive.
No matter how much praise the barebones Pixel devices would get, the fact is that Pixel phones barely sell, and none of the phone vendors trying to retain customers with a barebones OS have succeeded. Google heavily promoted Android One, yet it had the same fate as its predecessors.
Iām not asking or demanding that the Nothing OS look like iOS or something else, but I am interested in more features to be built into the OS. Whatever happened to Oxygen OS was Oppoās plan to unify the brand resources and reduce their costs. It does not connect with user demands. The OS can still look and feel clean and simple while adding more functionality that people coming from other vendors would definitely be missing.
I have Ear(1) already, but this still excites me. Maybe will grab just the case if things are compatible. Please sell it separately to existing users of Ear(1)
Iāll keep an eye out for what you plan to do next!

MikaAleksandroff Screenshot should be by pressing Power and Volume Down (-) together. It used to require a 2-second press and hold to capture, but I think it is made instant in new versions of Android.
Screenshot gestures are a custom feature, and Nothing OS is just a newborn - almost stock Android. That feature does not exist in stock, hence not in Nothing OS right now.
You will likely also see a button in the status bar icons, if not, use the edit button to add it among the available icons.
@alnstian97 Is the Android 12ās long screenshot (capture more) feature not implemented on the Nothing phone? Or youāre looking for even longer shots that work in all apps?
Blitzkreig Which other TWS manufacturer has a Windows and Mac app for their products? I think that is not something we can call an industry standard, however, do correct me if I am wrong
Blitzkreig I do not think theyāll make an app for Windows or Mac. You can use touch controls to switch ANC modes. Long tap on it cycles modes one by one. So, you can get your work done.

sean (1) You are ignoring the fact that most phones use a proprietary charging solution (BBK, Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, Huawei - all have their own way of fast charging, same goes for CPUs such as Qualcomm, Mediatek, Spreadtrum) wherein they fast charge with their own branded adapters and in some cases (OPOO, VIvo, Realme, Iqooās VOOC, Dash whatever) need a specific cable as well. Plus, most companies recommend that the product be charged using a charger and cable as per their specifications. Hence, thereās generally always a need to pick up a new charger and cable with the phone.
Moreover, the new iPhones and Galaxies started the trend of including type C to type C cables in the box. I wonder how many users already have a charger that has a USB-C port or other wall ports and PCs. It is a wasteful practice of selling more accessories for money while saving money from the actual product. As long as thereās not an option to get a charger and cable (if needed) complimentary with the purchase of a new device, it is a stupid trend, which we should try to oppose.
Not to mention that Iāve never had a wasted cable after all my phones came with a cable. Cables also break pretty often. So, thereās no issue having like 5 of them.
Iām also interested in knowing Nothingās stand towards the development community and bootloader status, also the impact of the same on phoneās warranty.
They did mention in the behind-the-scenes video that they worked hard for the unboxing experience. Letās see how nice it gets.
Isnāt the dictatorship of US carriers a thing too? Like I saw them phasing out 3G and there are ample phones that support 4G VoLTE but these carriers wonāt enable VoLTE for them, instead let them be redundant. So, unless a carrier approves these devices, they wonāt work nicely and I think getting approvals from US carriers is not an easy task, which is why most of the phone brands avoid the US market.
